Someone suggested that I post this here because it might get a more informed response in this topic. If anything I said is read to be offensive or insensitive, I want to say that it was not meant to be and am sorry. I have never known anyone that had a miscarriage (that talked about it) and none of my female relatives have reproductive problems or PCOS... so they are no help.
Okay... I am super scared. I am not ready to have kids right now (neither is my boyfriend) , but I am on bcp's on the off chance that would happen with me (and for numerous other reasons). I have taken my bcp's continuously for about three months now, not taking the placebos and just starting a new pack (thereby skipping my period entirely). Lately I have had bronchitis and whatnot, so I was on amoxicillin, which I did not know could challenge the effectiveness of bcp's. When I did find out, I had about a week left of my bcp's before I could start the orange pills and have a period. I decided to do this so that I could rule out being pregnant. Well, today was the first real day of any flow (I have been spotting the entire time I have been taking pills). I have had the worst cramps ever in my life. They were so bad that I had a hard time standing up for a five minute span when I went to go to the bathroom. So I took a Midol and they GRADUALLY went away. I will honestly say that the pain did not fully subside until I had a joint at my boyfriend's suggestion. I also decided that I obviously was not pregnant, and wanted to start a new pack of bcp's. So I took the first pill around midnight when I took the Midol and smoked a bit. The boyfriend and I watched a movie, laid in bed for a bit (did nothing but slept) and he left at 5am. All day my flow has been regular-heavy (for me), but it has been light to bright red (but never dark) and really runny and stringy- like (sorry if TMI). I tried using a tampon, but a regular sized one was too much and when I removed it after a couple of hours, there was barely anything on it. So I decided to use a pad. I went to the bathroom after the bf left, and changed my pad.... there was still very little even on it, and I had been wearing it for a few hours. This might get a little gross..... When I leaned over to wipe, I heard a plop. I looked down into the toilet bowl and there was this thing laying on the side. I honestly thought it was poop left behind by my bf, but I looked at it and it was a piece of freakin flesh. I picked it out and flushed the rest. I don't know what this thing is. I have had blood clots pass during my flow, but this thing is no normal blood clot. Honest to God it looks like a deflated balloon and my first thought was that I have lost an ovary or I just had a miscarriage. I still do not know. I am hesitant on going to the doctor because cash flow has been tight this past week (all of my tips were stolen Friday night when my club got robbed... I mean, talk about bad weeks... I was held at gunpoint in an armed robbery and then this!)..... but this sounds like something that might need medical attention. I saved the mass and put it in a ziploc in my refridgerator in case they needed to test it or anything. It's about two inches long, the one end is obviously fleshy/fat tissue and the other end is more red and tougher in texture...... and it looks like it's a burst sac or something. I am so scared. Does this happen to anyone? What should I do? For those that have had miscarriages, is this what they are like?
If this was a miscarriage, the baby would not have been more than three or four weeks and everything I have read on fetal development would make whatever this thing was too big, I think. But I thought it was worth a shot asking you guys and I appreciate any input you all have.

I'm not sure if that was a m/c or not. Sounds like it could have been but it could just be from not having a period in so long. Were your cramps constant or did they seem more like contractions coming every few minutes? With my first m/c, it was like I was in labor, granted not hard labor like someone having a baby but cramps every few minutes for a few hours. The nurse said it was from my uterus contracting to get rid of all the tissue. Have you taken an HPT?
It is good you kept what you passed. If you want to find out for sure, your dr can send it to the lab to test for what they call "products of conception".
I know it's hard to decide what to do when money is an issue. I'd say you should probably be seen by a dr just in case but chances are you would be fine if you didn't. I hope you feel better soon.

So far, everything has been normal. I really am starting to think that because I was taking the bcp's continuously for such a decent span of time, my body just wanted to get rid of a bunch of uterine lining. That's never happened to me before, though, so I guess it took me by surprise. But as far as the cramps.... I had mild ones for about a day that seemed like the normal cramps I have always gotten. And then for about twenty minutes they just hit me hard. At one point I could not stand and I thought I was going to get sick because it hurt so bad. But they weren't contraction-like cramps. And I didn't pass the mass until five or six hours later, when I felt fine. I feel fine today. And- since I started taking the pill again last night, my period is really light again.
Sometimes I just want to rip my ovaries out, move to the seaside and live like a hairy hermit .

Carrie B I'm so sorry to hear what you went through. I am a fairly new member of this site and I have never posted. I went through this yesterday, almost exactly the same experience that you did. I am so confused on what it is. I keep trying to tell myself that it was uterine lining or something like that because it is almost impossible that I was pregnant. I didn't have the cramps or anything like that but I am having af as we speak. I was so freaked out that I didn't keep the piece of flesh, instead I flushed it. I am going to the dr. to find out what happened and please keep me updated on your results. I am here if any of you ever need to talk.
I have had this happen to me a few times as well. I totally freaked out the first time it happened
The first time it happened I was having a really heavy period and lots of pain and I passed this fleshy type of tube and I thought OMG what is that??? I was petrified my ovaries had fallen out or something!
I spoke to my Gynae about it and he just kinda looked at me like I was on drugs or something and didn't have any insight. He referred me to a clinic where I had some tests done and they did a Hysteropinagram (argh or something like that) to check the uterus for any problems. They found that I had fibroids. So the thing I had passed were most likely smaller fibroids that were attached to the larger one that had been disloged during bd.
Talk to your Gynae about it, hopefully they will reccoment some testing, just to make sure.
Good luck
