Thyroid is very important to pregnancy indeed, but I would imagine that your loss was for a different reason. I think that it wouldn't have lasted into the second trimester if your thyroid was way off. A good friend of mine had that reason for an early m/c. I understand that with one hormonal imbalance it is common to have many others as well.
I'm very sorry for your loss. Many of ours in the second trimester involved the cervix opening for no reason (often causing the infection you mentioned), and I am very anxious to explain why this happens to so many of us with PCOS. Some of us have gone on to carry to term or are on the way to it now. Many have cervical cerclages, many use bedrest or a combination.
I wish you luck and lots of success if you are ready to try again. Definitely get that thyroid checked a few times throughout pregnancy, because it can fluctuate a lot.
Best wishes,
Sheri
