Question Miscarrying #1, my story (sorry kind of long, with some questions at the end)

Hello everyone, I just got conformation from my (new) OBGYN that our pregnancy is not viable and the baby did not develop after 5 weeks and 5 days. It's been about 4 weeks since then and I still have not actually miscarried yet. We have a D & C scheduled for Tuesday the 19th if I do not pass it before then (I am actually hoping that I don't because I would prefer a D & C so I know everything will be cleaned out). I had problems with my doctor that I was seeing (just a GP) and so I switched to an OB that was referred to me by some of my family members and friends. She was super nice and when DH & I was meeting with her yesterday I had a sense of calmness come over me. I have accepcted the fact that God has other plans for us at this point in our lives and am just ready to get this nightmare over so we can start trying to heal. We are going to start TTC again in March (hoping that my cycles are regular by then). I do have a couple of questions:

(1) after having a d & c how long did it take to regulate your cycles and if you were on Metformin did they seem to regulate sooner? I am currently taking 850 MG 2 X daily.

(2) We tried to conceive #1 for 11 months and after my second round of clomid (first round of 100 MG) and pre-seed that did the trick. I do not want it to take this long this time. Have you had success the second time by doing what worked the first time? My OB said that we would first try with 50 MG and then move up to 100 MG, but the 100 is what worked for me so I am not sure why she wants to lower it.

Thank you all so much for your feedback. God bless you all this holiday season.

Jennifer

((HUGS))) I am so sorry for your loss. I had a similar situation on my last loss. I had the D&C and continued to take the gloucophage (same as metformin) 1500mg a day. My cycles stayed regulated. It took me 5 rounds of clomid ( 4 at 100mgs) the first time on it and after the loss I got my BFP on the 3rd round. I don't understand why your dr would lower your clomid after finding what worked for you. I wish you the best of luck and let me know if you need any more help.

Thank you for your responses. I am hoping that my cycles will stay somewhat normal by staying on my Metformin. Our first BFP was on my 2nd month of Clomid, 1st of 100 MG. I am hoping that next time it will work as well. We tried for 13 months before we got our BFP and I do not want to wait that long this time.

mtm71401: Did you do OPK's throughout? If you don't mind me asking, when was your m/c and how far along are you now? Good luck with everything, I hope it's gonig good.

Newby- I did do OPK and I ovulated every time on the 100mgs, it just took a couple of tries to get the magic to happen. I have had 3 m/c but only 1 while TTC. It was July of 2005. I was 10 weeks along (but found out the baby had stopped developing at 6 weeks). I had a D&C and begin TTC the very next cycle. I had my DD July of this year. It will happen! I hate that you have had to go through this! I am here for whatever you need!

I can't help you with your questions, but often pregnancy can give our hormones a short-term fix. Maybe that's why your doc is lowering your dosage. One or two extra months won't hurt anything. I'm glad you found a doc you love, and I'm SO sorry for your loss. ((Hugs)),

I had a d&c on 9/27/06 and got AF back on 11/13/06. I have been on Met for almost 4 years now. I take 1000mg/day.

I did have success this last time by doing the EXACT same thing as the first time. Both times, I took 100mg Clomid along with Royal Jelly, Grape seed extract, prenatals and real egg whites. Worked the first time, both times for me.

I'm taking a different approach this time.....I'm on Vitex. I'm trying it instead of the Clomid. I will try it for about 6 months, and if I'm not pregnant by then, I will go back to the Clomid. So far, the Vitex is making me O good. This is my second month on it. Good luck to you!!!
