Did you happen to catch the episode of 30 Days that showed a devout Christian living as a Muslim for a month? He spent the 30 days studying the Koran and living with a Muslim family. (I am HUGELY summarizing!) It was really a good one! Anyway, I thought of you and your thread and wondered what you thought of it. <3

Hmm, it sounds familiar, but if it's a recent airing, I probably haven't seen it. We cut our cable last year, and actually just had it hooked up again (much to my dismay ) My husband is a political buff and can't get enough of CPAC lately (lol, not that I expect you to be following Canadian politics!)
Does youtube have any clips?

editing to add- you'll have to create a free account on hulu to watch it. For some reason, it says it's for mature audiences...

I don't think that these 2 comprise the whole thing, but it'll get you started. I'll be back after I help DS with kindergarten homework.

It's pretty interesting so far. I loved the finding nemo remark!
I have to criticize one thing the Imam mentioned, when he referred to the Prophets as "Spiritual Sons." This is not an acceptable explanation in Islam. So I take issue with that. The Prophets (peace be upon them) are in no way, shape, or form ever referred to as children/sons/offspring of God, neither spiritually nor otherwise, not in the Qur'an or the Hadith (sayings of the Prophet Muhammad, pbuh). On the contrary, there are numerous references to clearly state the opposite.
I'll come back later to post in more detail, just wanted to point that out before I forget
I'd like to see the rest of the program whenever you get a chance (I know how tiring kindergarten can be )

I don't even know what to say! Have you or anyone you know ever been treated this way?! This judge is WAAAY out of order and needs to be remoced from his position, imo. His prejudice is apalling.
Newser) – A Muslim woman was briefly jailed by a Georgia judge for refusing to take off her head-covering hijab in court, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The woman was arrested for contempt, and ordered held for 10 days—but was released after several hours. She had been in court with her nephew, who was contesting a traffic violation. The same judge ejected another Muslim woman from court last week under similar circumstances.
“When somebody is denied access to our judicial system based on religiously mandated attire, then what does that say?" asked a spokesman from the Council on American-Islamic Relations. "No Muslim woman can have access to a courtroom in Georgia?"

I can't believe people like this still exist - and a judge no less? Where is the justice in that? If I were that woman, this would have been my response: "When you take off your gown, I'll think about taking off my scarf - until then, we'll both be dressed as women, thank you very much."

Did you watch the whole video? He's had 2 women arrested and 1 removed from his courtroom for wearing hijab. Apparently the state of Georgia lets each judge determine what he will allow in the courtroom.... It's just an outrage.
The woman that got 10 days in jail sounded like she did try to put up a fight over it, which is probably the reason she got that long. The other lady that was given time was only 1 day. NOT that the length of time makes any difference in the inappropriateness of the judge, just saying I'm glad she refused. Let's hope her lawsuit gets off the ground!
If I understand, hijab is NOT comparable to a cowboy hat or something, lol! Would he ask a Christian to remove a crucifix or a Jew a yamulke?
