Default Misdiagnosed???

I am starting to think I have been misdiagnosed Before I was diagnosed, I had some excess hair growth (nothing unmanageable), acne (that was under control) and very infrequent periods. All of my labs were in good ranges except my testosterone was at 60 (high) and my hemoglobin a1c was 5.7.

7 1/2 months later, after starting met, spiro and propecia (different times) AND losing 50 pounds, I have hair in places i never knew i could ("afro" shoulders and upper arms, collar bone/chest, BUTT (extreme... not just on the crack!! TMI), I'm going bald (not an exaggeration), I'm losing 250+ hairs a day, and all of my labs have gotten WORSE (except my hemoglobin a1c went down to 5.3).

Is there ANYTHING that anyone knows about where you can have all of this and it not be PCOS??? I just feel like I can't do this anymore. I don't want anyone to look at me and especially touch me. I don't think I'll ever find a man to accept me this way. I NEED to figure this out.

Oh yeah, every dr i go to just says "lose weight and take bcp"

Cushing's Disease has symptoms that are similar to those of PCOS, as well as, a few other things. Your doctor should have first ruled out those 'other things' before deciding on a PCOS Dx.

no prob!

If you're still with the doctor that diagnosed you, ask them specifically, "What was the basis for you diagnosing me with PCOS?"

They should be able to give you a detailed answer of what they tested, what they eliminated, what they observed, and why they concluded, "PCOS".
