Default missed dosages

On Thursday night after my half tablet dosage, I felt really sick. Friday morning, I was still feeling gross so basically I haven't take my 750 mg dosages since Thursday.....I'm going to start up again tomorrow and increase to 1000mg but I'm afraid that I've lost whatever build up I've made......any thoughts?

I wouldn't increase the dose, I think you are going to have to basically start over. The feeling grose and sick is a very common side effect of metformin, for me, it lasted a week, and I really wasn't sure I would make it. I contemplated everyday about stopping takeing it. But I stayed on it and it has been the best thing I have ever done. If I were you, I would start again, but this time, start off takeing one pill at bed time, stick with that for a week or two, then up the dose. Do it a little bit at a time.

Feeling a little lousy is unfortunately a side effect for many of us starting on met...we just have to bear it. I think too that you should probably start over at your beginning dose, and work up gradually. Avoiding fatty or greasy foods and too much iceberg lettuce should help. Also, if the side effects are really nasty, you should check with your doc...you may not be tolerating the fillers and binders they use in compounding the drug, and he might need to try another option.
