Well I don't know the answer to the question but I can tell you this, if I'm late taking mine or I miss my evening dose (which has only happened a couple times), I don't feel as good and seem to have more side effects, so I think it's possible it could throw off your AF. But I'm no Doc so I don't know that with certainty. But I do know that my Doc said to take my met on a strict schedule.
