Question missed start date for yasmin

Hi everyone,

I was supposed to start taking Yasmin the Sunday after my period started. that was last week and i was out of town so had no access to my pharmacy (hadn't even picked up the pills, figured it would be a while before i got a period) so now am i supposed to wait who knows how long before i can start them?

Has anyone else started differently? Will it make a huge difference?

I started Yasmin with no period to go by at all, just started on a Sunday. I know when you miss a pill, you can make up for it by taking yesterday's in the morning and then today's in the evening. Not sure if it's smart to do for multiple days. I don't think it would hurt any just to start on Sunday. And I got a period the first month I was on it!

The reasoning behind a Sunday start is in theory you may get weekends off from your period. You can also start the pill the first day of your period. Figuring the first Sunday following AF didn't follow much logic beyond practicle matters, I used to do a Thursday start, since that was the way that did get me weekends off (Sunday start never did since I never got AF till Wed)

As long as it has been less than a week since AF started, just start the pills and you'll probably be OK.

If it has been more than a week, I would say just start the pills and use back up protection (condoms) the first month if you have sex.

You can double up for two missed days, I believe, so if you wanted, if it's been a week and a fay or a week and two days, you could double up one or two days - but I would still suggest back up BC the first month.

A small word of caution - my "oops" happened when I started the pill at random (no period) and didn't use back up the first month. I got pregnant during the first week or so on the pill.
