Question Missoula, Montana

Hi!

I live in Missoula, Montana, and I am currently seeing Jamie Granger of Community Hospital. I am calling her tomorrow for a follow up visit, as I was only diagnosed a few weeks past, and no treatment has yet been established.

I am not sure what I need in a doctor with this diagnosis. I mean, this is all new territory. But the fact that she didn't want to see me or talk about treatment for a whole month after diagnosing me with PCOS worries me a little bit. I mean, I don't want to tell a doctor how to do her job, but to my knowledge, no other options have been ruled out, and only some of the tests have been done. And since PCOS is treatable, I'm confused why she didn't want to see me sooner.

Howdy neighbor, I'm from Msla, too! :-)

As for your doc, is she a ob/gyn? How did you pick her? Maybe she's so busy that she didnt' have another opening, or maybe she wanted to give you time to "digest" it--I'm not sure, I'm quite new to this whole pcos thing. (I know there are a lot of docs here, but I've not heard of her).

Not sure if changing docs is an option for you, but if you aren't happy with what you're getting, you should be able to find someone you'll be happy with!

I am currently seeing Marcia Hanks, she's an APRN, CNM. She doesn't do any pregnancy related care, but specializes in hormone replacement, and other women's care. I really like her because she pairs traditional medicine with good nutirition/exercise, etc. She is really down to earth and very easy to talk to, and I feel like she's been really thorough with testing, etc. I haven't done much with her besides fiddle with my bcp & I took prometrium for a bit when I first went w/o a pd for 6 months, but we did talk about other medication options if the diet/exercise + bcp didn't work for me.

ANyway, I hope that helps. Its nice to see someone else on here from the big sky country! :-)

Dr. Nancy Dunne in Missoula. I read about her online. Her daughter has it, and she wrote a book called the Natural Diet Solution, and it's all for PCOS and Infertility. I'm actually kinda wanting to go see her myself.
