Well, we were told we should get our approval from ICBF in about 2 months. That would have been November 1. Finally today I could wait no longer, so I emailed the program coordinator at the agency to ask what was up.
Well, it seems Colombia has done a little restructuring, which along with an increase in applications since Guatemala became so unreliable, has managed to backlog them. They're telling us that the fastest anyone seems to be making it through approval now is 5 months I guess on the bright side, maybe I'll get an approval letter for my birthday in February.
On the bright side of things.. they say that referrals are still arriving on schedule, and sometimes even faster. They also say that this time spent waiting for approval is considerred in the waiting time they quoted us for referral. So where we were originally quoted 12-15 months.. we're down to 10-13 months! (9.5-12.5 if I want to make myself feel better! And maybe faster!)
Now if only I could slip into a coma for 9 months or so...

You certainly got a mixed bag of news didn't you !
The waiting game is NOT a fun game, in fact it is the most cruelest of all...being PG at least you know the baby is coming and you have most of the details...this adoption waiting is HARD since there are no certainties at all...
I know near the end of our waiting Ukraine went all haywire and we had a few breakdowns but in the end it all worked out and I know it will for you too !
Have you thought about making a quilt ? There are alot of things that you can do that will take up time

You sure did get a mixed bag! So, your next step is waiting for ICBF approval? I'll be praying February gets here soon for you!
I know how you're feeling on the emotional roller coaster ride. I'm currently on the upswing, but cautiously so. We have so many rumors flying around you couldn't believe it.
So, hang tight. 9 months is about what our wait will (should) be from DTC to referral. After that I'll have another 6-8 week wait until I travel. It's been a long 1 1/2 years I tell ya.

I'm sorry there is added wait time, but that IS good news that the program is stronger than ever. We had some bizzare delays too and I was borderline hysterical, but it all led to Justin & Maria. So God's just making sure the timeline is readjusted for to you receive YOUR baby. (It's so hard to be the one being "readjusted", though, I know). Hugs to you!
