Default molar pregnancy?

Just had a D&C on Friday at 12 weeks. Had a u/s this past Monday that showed an empty sac and no fetus. Went to the peri for another u/s on Tuesday and same thing. Decided to go for the D&C instead of waiting it out, as I've 2 previous miscarriages at home (6 weeks, each) and didn't want to go through a 12 week m/c myself.

Turns out I made a good choice, my OB said the sac was much bigger than she thought it would be, with a lot of fluid and tissue. If I'd tried at home, I would have ended up at the hospital anyway, and it would have been ugly. Since the sac/tissue was abnormal, and this was my second consecutive m/c , she is sending it to pathology. She told my husband that it may possibly be a molar pregnancy, which can very rarely cause cancer, etc.

Has anyone else been through this? How long does the pathology take and what is the treatment like? We were hoping to get started TTC again in 3 months, but I have read that if it IS molar, we will have to wait longer ...

This is a really crappy experience. I thought we were home free this time, hitting that 12 week milestone... goes to show that you just never know with pregnancy. Wish I could be normal.

Yes, I just went throught that. I was told by the specialist that did my D&C on October 4th that it was a molar pregnancy. He had to send the tissue for pathology. So now it's over a month later and my family doctor called me to tell me that she doesn't have the written results, but that the specialist called her and told her something about the results being nothing to worry about and as soon as my blood levels return to normal that we can try again. So I'm just confused at this point. Waiting to see my doctor again for the written results on Monday. Why do doctors tell their patients what it "could" be and make then worry. I've been on edge since the start of October... So, I hope you situation gets sorted out quickly. Good luck
