*What should she be tested for?
Depends what out her on the met in the first place. usually baseline hormine/insulin labs are run and then you compare them after a few months on met to se if they are improving. She should also be tested for liver/kidney enzymes to make sure the drug is clearing the body properly and vitamin B12 levels.
*Does she need to be tested on a certain cycle day since she is on a BCP?
Depends on the tests run. I would speak to her Dr or lab tech.
*Should she continue the BCP? She is not sexually active and the yaz has given her relief from the irratic and heavy Af. She has had "quality of life' with them as she was a camp counselor this summer.
That's a pretty personal choice. It depends on if her goals are to manage her symptoms or try to treat the IR alone. Some bcp worsen IR, and she may have trouble when she decides to become pregnant later on in life if her body relies too heavily on the bcp...that's what happened to me. But a dialogue with the dr and some consideration of what her goals are long and short term will help decide what is best for her.
*Should we wait til she has taken the met more regularly and consistantly before testing bloodwork is done?
I would, but her Doc may just want to see how it's working. She definetly needs to get the drug regularly dosed in order to see best results.
*She is having her tonsils out in Oct, should she discontinue the met prior to surgery?
Speak with her Dr...he will be able to counsel with you.
Good luck!
