Angry moody with provera

I am on my 6th day of provera and this is my first time taking it. I am getting extremely moody, and I'm never like this. I cry for no reason, and can't stop. I feel so sorry for my dh for having to put up with this. I get mad at him for no reason. Does it affect anyone else like this? I'm never like this. I'm not stressed about anything, so I know it can't be that. I've never had moods with pms like this before, sure I've had them, but not like this. I'm only taking 10mg/day.

HI there Clarissa~
Yup- provera affects a lot of women that way. I was supposed to take it monthly but doc and I agreed on 10days every three months (also 5mg instead of 10) because I was such a wreck on it. I was weepy and agitated, I cried about everything and nothing, I was a real basket case.
My new gyn specialist prescribed prometrium instead of provera. It is natural progestin and is therefore is not supposed to cause as many side effects. I am waiting for met to do its thing, so I haven't taken it yet- so I coudln't tell ya if there is a difference.
Hope you're feeling better soon.
Take care!

Hi Lori

Thanks for the input. At least I know that I'm a basketcase for a reason. I really feel like a freak.

I've been on prometrium before. I used it while I was pregnant because my progesteron(sp?) level wasn't high enough to sustain my preganacy. Maybe I can get my gyn to put me on that if this doesn't work. The fertility doc is the one that had me on prometrium before.

Hi, I took provera in november and december. I was like another person while on it. I was very moody, cried a lot. My husband doesn't want me to take it ever again. I was fine one second and I was extremely mad the next second for no reason. I felt so bad for it. But I couldn't control it. So its very normal. Hope I helped.

Tera

Just back from doc. She started me on clomid. This is my first time on it. I had my first baby without having to take it. I'm kinda nervous.

Hi Clarissa,

You're definitely not alone with the side effects of provera. I'm on my 5th day of taking it and have another 5 days to go *pulling hair*!! As the days go by, I'm finding that I'm getting so tired - today I could hardly keep my eyes open. I've also experienced a mood change although I've found that I'm a lot quieter and continuously feel like I've been drinking heavily the night before (I wish *giggle*!). Anyway, my dh is very patient with me and provides a lot of support and hugs. I'm usually bubbly and very talkative, so I guess he is thanking his lucky stars *laugh*. Anyway, I'm just focusing on Sunday when all of this is behind me and will hopefully get AF soon after that. I'm also starting Clomid for the first time, so hope that it is our month to conceive along with all the other ladies who are ttc.
Glad that you got AF in such a short time and good luck on the clomid.

Take care

P.S Your little boy is so adorable.

I hope to never have to take provera again. After I have my second, I'm thinking about being cleaned out, if you know what I mean. I hate all of this crap!! Anyway, after I quit provera everything went back to normal, if you can call it that. I was very sleepy with it. Almost to sleepy to work or anything. Combined with my allergy meds I was out cold. I hope we get preg this time. Losts of baby dust coming your way. GOOD LUCK!! Keep me posted, we can go through this together. I just took my 1st clomid and now I read that I should have taken it at night, shoot! oh Well. I guess I be cranky again! My poor dh.
