Unhappy More hair after stopping BCP?

I have just strated to agressively treating my PCOS and started taking Met about 3 mos ago. I also stopped taking birth control at that time because I was just sick of it. I probably have an aversion to them because that was my old DR's answer to my problems.

This morning, I noticed that I am growing more hair under my chin near my neck and I think that the chin hairs are more numerous as well. I am completely freaking out. Should I go back on BC? Should I try something new? I kind of feel like an idiot calling my doctor because I just saw her and didn't say anything, but I don't want to let it go. I am going to call her, but they are all in a meeting today and I am NOT talking to the answering service about this.
It isn't HORRIBLE, but I don't want it to get that way either. I will deal with the hairs on my chest and my happy trail, but I don't know if I can deal with more hair on my face!

Any suggestions on what I should ask her? Should I go on the BCP I was on before or maybe try Yasmin? Should I ask for Spiro as well? I also wonder if she will want to see me again as well. Has anyone gone on these prescriptions without an appointment?

Thanks

I was on Ortho-tricyclen before I was diagnosed and I stopped because I didn't have insurance and I could afford it anymore. After I stopped I definitely noticed more growth especially on my chin. Now I have insurance and I've been diagnosed and my doctor put me on Yasmin, which I've been using the past year. The growth hasn't gotten any worse since I went back on BC but I can't really tell if it is getting any better. I've never tried Spiro so I can't give advice about that but I don't think you can get BC without a prescription. I also highly doubt your doctor wouldn't want to see you again. I would definitely call and get some advice from you dr whether it is coming in or her just sending a prescription into the pharmacy you go to. I hope this helps a little bit.

I am trying to get some info from the nurse at the doctor's office, but she is just about the worst person about responding. I leave messages saying that I will be at this number until 4pm. When does she call?? 3:58. *sigh*
I think I may try something other than BCPs though, but thanks for the response

I definitely noticed an increase since I stopped bcp. More chin hairs (really only had 1 stubborn one when I was on bcp) and the hair on my arms is more and darker. If I wasn't ttc, I'd be back on bcp just to regulate my cycles and help the side effects!

Yes, when I went of BCP to get pg, all of the hair I lasered of my chin came back. And after I had the baby, it came back even worse. I started using Vaniqa about 2 months ago and seems to be working wonders on my facial hair.

I was going to try Vaniqa,, but my skin is so sensitive that even those oil of olay facials dry my face out like mad. I finally talked to the nurse and I am going to try Evening Primrose oil. If that doesn't work, then I am going to probably go on Sprio.
I really don't want to take BCP. I don't know why, but I have an aversion to being on them since I was on them for so long. I think because my doctor at the time didn't attempt anything else to try and treat me.

Thanks for the replies ladies!

Hello BBro,
I stopped taking Ortho-Tricyclen summer 03 because I just got tired.I'm a cyster that believe in prayer, and so I asked God to restore my menses without any meds, cause I was just tired.HE DID IT.I have noticed that I have more hair growing at a more rapid speed now that I stopped the BCP.I started laser treatment last year and have seen AMAZING results.I highly recommend it.I'm a african american women and so I am a witness that it do help. It's a process though, and the more you go,the less painful it'll be,and more results you'll see.So yes the BCP were a benefit for me the years I was on them, they kept my menses regular, the air at a minumum, espeically, the ingrowns, but thru Prayer my decision was to give up the benefits the BCP provided and to trust GOD for my complete healing.I believe it's a personally choice.BCP are great, but if don't want to take them check out laser...
