Unhappy More hairy face issues

I am new here and have read lots of stuff about being hairy. I shave twice a day using mach 3 razor. Most of the growth I get is under my chin and on my neck. I also have a lovely tash!

I am getting hair on my arms and bottom of my back now too.

I am curious to know if the hair gets worse as you get older?

I have a really hairy arse, and if i use immac (veet), or a razor, i get loads of ugly red spots that take ages to heal and leave scars. any ideas on how i avoid this? i would love my boyfriend to screw me with the lights on!!!

Hi there. I know exactly what you are talking about! I remember once my boyfriend (now ex) wanted to have sex outside somewhere and I of course said no. He thought it was because I was a prude... but really it was because I am too paranoid about him seeing any hair to ever have sex in broad daylight! Ha ha.

Personally, I use an Epilady shaver on my arms. It hurts quite a bit when you first start out, but you get used to it. This removes the hair for about 2 weeks and it does not come in stubbly. I have also used it on my lower back and butt and its works pretty well. The hair I have is not coarse - its fine, but its very dark and there's lots of it so it is visible.

Not sure what is best for the face. I bleach the "sideburn" area and pluck but I am so sick of it, I have a consultation booked for laser removal next weekend. I have just had it with this problem and all the terrible self esteem issues that come with it! I can't wax or anything, because I break out so it looks like laser is the only hope for me. Hopefully it will work out. It is going to cost a ton, but I just can't deal with this anymore...

I have the same problem. I finally decided I couldn't deal with the hair anymore and practically forced my dr. to submit the paperwork for the laser removal and my first appt. is today.

I get to discuss the fun stuff and I'm having almost everything lasered.

My butt and face are getting done first and then my whole upper thigh area and my arms and back and girlie area.

The other day my boyfriend told me that he doesn't want to have sex with me in a certain position because I let the hair grow too long and it looks like a guys ass. I mean, he wasn't being mean, just matter of fact about it but still. I decided that enough was enough. I was using nair but last time I used it I left it on too long while I was plucking stray hairs on my chest and got the wickedest burn, complete with scabs.

If you have insurance please talk to your dr. about it. And call your insurance company to see what guidelines they have for it. Most only cover it if it's caused by hormonal imbalances (ie: pcos) so I'm sure everyone here that has ins. can have it covered!

Take the initiative and call your ins. first. Don't take "NO" for an answer!

I don't think any provider in Canada pays... medically-related or not.. but I am going to investigate. Wow, you must be so excited! Let us know how it turns out...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you know what laser they are using?

Question What CPT code???

Wiggleynose,
I really want to find out if my insurance will pay!!! Do you know what specific CPT codes your doctor used to get the insurance to pay for this procedure??? An can it be a dermatologist performing it or does it have to be an endocrinologist???

Default ins pays??!!! Tell me how!

I would love to have laser treatment but I haven't done it because of the cost. If my insurance would pay for it, I'll be there in a heartbeat!!!!

What is the name of your insurance carrier? PPO or HMO?
Any info on how to get it covered would really be appreciated.
Thanks

Bumbleberry - In Canada if you go for laser treatments and it is an actual Dr. you can use it as a medical expense on your taxes. I started my treatments in 2003 and when I did my taxes this year I got all of it back. The office I go to has an ear, nose, and throat Dr., but now he does laser procedures. It's great - I'm going to get everything lasered!

The Ontario government is kicking the crap out of the health care system here, but I just learned that they used to cover electrolysis!!! Where was I when this was happening!?!?!

I don't think so.... I thought it was federal. The lady who owns H&R Block in my town told me about it first and then so did my accountant. It goes under your medical expenses so it must be federal. But, it is as long as it is done by an actual Dr. You pay for it fist of course - but I got it all back at tax time. (Your total medical expenses have to be over a certain amount though. The lowest of some thing like 3% of your income or a certain $amount, I forget what and you can count anything during a 12 month period and it doesn't have to be Demember to December )

Oh me too! I read it in The Toronto Star and couldn't believe that electrolysis was actually once covered!

Ducky - Thanks for the tip re: deducting laser on taxes. I never thought of that! Here is the info for anyone else that is interested:

According to the 2003 Income Tax Guide, you can claim medical expenses paid in any 12-month period ending in 2003 and not claimed for 2002. Your total expenses must be either 3% of your net income or $1,755. So in other words, to get it back you have to spend $1,755 on laser over 12 months...I don't have all the details so you will want to check with an accountant or on the Revenue Canada website.

It has to be paid to a medical doctor or you can't claim it.

Hope for all of us in Canada! Yippee!

Thanks Bumbleberry - I forgot all the numbers. Another thing too is that it is the total of all of your medical expenses in that 12 month period. That includes prescriptions, benefits premiums, chiropractors, optometrists, ect. In my case I had the total that I paid in laser plus what I paid for my benefits at work and that brought me over the number. What I've learned in the last little while - keep your receipts! It does add up.
