Default More problems:(

There are some complications now with this miscarriage. I had a quantative hcg done on Sunday. My level was 5329 after it had been confirmed that I was indeed miscarrying. I just had another one done today and it turns out that my numbers are rising. They are 7205 now. They want to do an ultrasound to see exactly what is going on. I am scared now. What could this mean? Does this mean it is a molar pregnancy or that it could be ectopic? HOw is that possible when they already identified an intrauteran pregnancy? Also, a few hours after the doctor called to schedule me for an ultrasound tomorrow, a nurse called and said that she wanted to cancel my ultrasound because I didn't need it and all of those ultrasounds were going to give me an infection. When I told her that the hospital is the one who called and scheduled it for me because my hcg levels are still rising. She said, "oh well then I guess you should come"!!! This is the same nurse who denied that I was pregnant the first time even though I had positive hpts and the same one that denied giving me metformin in the first place. I'm scared and tired and upset and going through this practically by myself. The doctor on sunday mentioned that I may have to have another d&c done. I'm scared that will lead to scarring since I just had one less than 2 months ago. What should I do? I do just want to leave and come home. But, I don't want to ruin my chances at ever having children.

I tried to PM you but your mailbox is full...

Here's what I wrote:

Sorry about your m/c {{{{HUGS}}}}

I'm still dealing w/ mine, I actually have both intra & interuterine pgs at the same time. The only reason I know this is b/c we saw a gest. sac intrauterine @ 6w4d, then it was gone @ 7w6d but my betas kept going up. I went in a week later for another u/s & we saw what looked like a cyst on the outside of my ovary so we're assuming it was an ectopic. I got the methodrexate shot (2 actually) & I'm waiting to find out if my betas start going down. What happened w/ me was that my beta went down, then went back up & keep going up. I was terrified too b/c I didn't know what was going on. What are your betas? I really think you should get in to get an u/s to check for ectopic. If it is ectopic, it's still early enough to get the meth shot & not have to get surgery done. I would definately talk to your dr about it & stay in constant contact w/ your dr, call your dr if you have any pain or anything strange at all.

U/s's will not give you an infection....if they were, I would have definately had one since I've had about 5 in the past few weeks I would go in there & demand one to find out if it's ectopic or not...the only reason why your betas are going up is b/c something keeps growing in there but if they're not going up normally (which yours aren't) then the something is not normal. I'm not trying to scare you even more but this is serious. Tell them that if you have an ectopic & lose a tube b/c they were afraid you would get an infection then you will sue them before they can say ectopic! That should put a flame under their butts...this is nothing to fool w/. Ok, I got a little carried away but I've known way too many ppl that lost a tube or worse from an ectopic that was ignored by a dr.

A D&C will also not help if it's ectopic & I would definately demand the u/s to check for ectopic before doing another D&C. Really, you should get the methotrexate shot before you get another D&C b/c the D&C will possibly cause an infection & scar tissue which will be even worse.

I'm still waiting to see if you'll write to my email address, but i'll respond here in any case.

They ruled out an ectopic pregnancy last Saturday because they saw an intrauterine pregnancy and a baby. The sac was low sitting so they just thought it was due to low implantation. Then on Sunday, I went in again because of a gush of blood and pain. The doctor then said that my cervix was slightly open and that I was miscarrying and that it could take 2-3 days. She said that they would take my quantative hcg level on sunday and then again today to make sure the numbers were going down. The problem is that they are going up. Also on both Saturday and Sunday, the scans were done by different doctors, they said that my ovaries looked completely normal. Wouldn't they have spotted an ectopic then if that is what is going on? She said the number could be increasing because there is still material left inside of me. I'm scared to death. What if it is ectopic? Or a molar pregnancy? Is it possible for my numbers to keep rising with an incomplete miscarriage?

Yes, it is possible. With my m/c last Oct., I m/c'd one twin 10/03, my beta dropped, then it went back up, then down again and I m/c'd the second twin 12/03 with the help of a drug called cytotec. The second twin was never a viable pg but my body was treating it like it was. Have you passed the sac yet? If not, your body could still be growing the sac or the placenta or something which would be why your betas are going up but not at the right amount to be a viable pg. I think another u/s is definately needed. I pray you will have answers soon!

Love and hugs,

Steph

My numbers continued to rise during my miscarriage even after I passed the sac.
It took forever to reach my peak hcg level and even longer to drop back to it's normal level.
I remember being frustrated because I wanted to move on yet my body wasn't ready to accept the fact the pregnancy was over.
It became a month and a half long nightmare for me.
Hopefully you will get some answers from the doctors & soon because I know how much it hurts not knowing what's going on.
Take care and if you need anything let me know.

Steph: Thank you very much for answering. I don't think the sac has passed yet. I have had more blood than actual tissue pass. Thank you for your prayers. I'm going for the ultrasound tomorrow at 820 am. I will post and let everyone know what the scan shows and what the doctor suggests.

Beetlegirl: Thank you so much for answering. I promise I will let you know what is going on. If you want to write to me you can at rnikifor@yahoo.com.
I was just hoping this would be a simple m/c and go away so that I could start grieving and healing. I just don't understand why it has to be so torturous.

Personally, if I were you, I'd be on the next flight home for the US and I'd take myself to a good hospital and start all over with docs that seem to know what they are doing.

Hugs. I hope that whatever happens you have some peace.
