The past few days I've been waking up early to bouts of vertigo that sometimes make me nauseous, other times not. They usually go away after a few hours of sitting upright, but lying down again or moving too fast or staring at something down in front of me for too long can set off another spinning frenzy.. I did just start on BCPs a week ago (ocella) and have had a very VERY stressful week so I don't know if those are the reasons or not, but I just wanted to see if anyone else knew why I'd be getting this.. I've had vertigo before and my dad has an inner ear problem that happens at like high altitudes or out on the ocean on a boat and he gets extreme vertigo.. Any ideas?
I am having some of these symptoms, too. I don't know but I have three theories (for me) that might help you:
1. I'm on 1000 mg of Metformin per day and I wonder if it is low blood sugar from that. I have no appetite so it's hard for me to eat when I should.
2. I started taking prenatal vitamins and noticed there is iron in them. I had similar dizziness when I was on similar vitamins before and it eventually resolved when I stopped taking the prenatal vitamins. Are you on a vitamin with iron in it? Most of us don't need more iron so be careful as this could cause toxicity that is making you dizzy.
3. I have an undiagnosed abdominal issue and I wonder if I'm not bleeding a little bit inside, but need to schedule an appointment to find out.
4. I have also been told that dizziness is an "evolution" of migraine. Do you get migraines?
I had this happened when I started bcp's for a month to try and shrink a cyst. It would even happen when I was laying down and the whole world would spin. Check the package and see if dizziness is one of the side effects. If it is and it really bothers you, you could call and check with your doc.

1) Blood sugar is fine, only on BCPs (ocella) and topical vaniqa (the vaniqa I've been forgetting.. oops).
2) Haven't been taking vitamins, waiting to get my potassium levels checked first.
3) No abdominal issues I know of or other symptoms.
4) I rarely get migraines and if I do, they're tension headache caused.
On the good side, it's started to subside some.. either my body is getting used to it, or it was dehydration/stress caused..
