Talking moving to UK, what should I bring?

Dear All,
my name is Stefania, I live in Italy and I have recently discovered Soulcysters - I really love it!
For my PCOS story I'll perhaps post in the Newbie section, anyway I was diagnosed about a year ago and put on a BCP called Miranova which had my ending up in the oupatients with a thrombus, since december I switched to Diane and I'm feeling so much better, apart from how difficult it is to reduce carbs when you grew up on pasta.

Anyway, I am asking for help on the UK board because I'll moving to Preston, North Lancashire, to attend University.
I lived in the UK before for quite some time, but that was 10 years ago when I was a happy 16-year old. Nowadays I wish you could help me figure out if Diane is available there (not the Diane35 or the Dianette, the old school blue box), if my medical records will be enough to convince the local GP to still prescribe it me, and what the doctor's mentality is most likely to be over there.
Would it be wise to have my GP write a letter to bring to the practitioner I will register with once in England?
I have been very lucky in meeting a GP and a Gyn, both women, who prescribed all the right tests and saw me through the whole, long and painful, process of diagnosis, serving as a shoulder to cry on when it was needed. But before encountering them I had stuck for a long time with my mother's old Gyn, a man with a very good rep but who dismissed everything not related to "the miracle of birth". He was ok dealing with pregnancies and delivery, but everything else was treated as a non-urgent nuisance (which led to lots of trouble for mom).

I hope you can help, sorry if this has been too long. Love,
s,

Hi Stefania,

Welcome to Soul Cysters!

My advice is to attempt to get copies of your medical records (translated into English, hopefully) then register with a Doctor when you get to the UK. If not your full records then I'm sure any information would be handy. I'm sure the GP will be able to answer any questions you may have about prescriptions etc.

I can't really answer any of the questions raised in your post with certainty, I just wanted to welcome you to our little online 'family'

Love
Lisa

Talking

Dear Lisa,
thanks so much for the welcome!

I'm seeing my GP in about an hour to discuss how to handle moving and medical notes, she has a long experience (besides being a wonderful woman) and I hope she dealt with these before!

Thanks again,
s,
