Default Much oilier Scalp On Nordette BCP

Sorry, My last post got cut.

I was on yasmin for a year and only had to wash my hair at most 2 times a week.

I was switched to Nordette due to depression. This is an androgenic pill (good for the sex drive as well.) But, Now my scalp has become so oily and I am worried this my mean my hair may start to fall off. Do you think this is a warning sign...Should I switch bcp's? I had some cystic acne the 1st week but it has subsided and I was planning on keeping this pill..

Any ideas?

Androgenic means it increases androgens such as testosterone. This can cause oily skin, acne, excess hair growth or head hair loss depending on your body's response.

It depends on why you are taking this pill whether you want to live with any androgenic side effects. If it's just for depression, that doesn't really make sense to me - is it to counter a low sex drive from the SSRI's? Aren't there other meds for depression with don't have this effect? There are other less androgenic bcp's or other forms of birth control.

Maybe you can increase the Aldactone to counter the androgenic effects, 50mg is a very low dose.

Thanks for you reply. I have switched to Ovcon 35 and am my face and hair are doing much better. I feel good emotionally and sex drive is good as well.

I have increased the aldactone to 100 to counteract the bloating effects of the BCP.
