Walaikum Assalam and welcome Mahjab and NHA. May Allah answer all our prayers.
Chips: I have decided not to take N1H1, not tested enough for me, I don't want to be a guinea pig, I got the regular flu shot though. I pray I won't regret my decision.
And yet again with this stupid computer....argghhhh

Rusalka- Salam sister *hugs* How are you feeling today? I'm so sorry that your hopes were up and then AF came. Inshallah soon sister we will all hear the good news. What has your doctor said about your plan? Are you guys going to start IVF soon? Inshallah it'll work out.

Green- Salam sister *hugs* don't feel bad. We've all been where you are. When my periods are more than six weeks off, I tend to get in that horrible mood too. I'm not sure about others, but I've fallen into habit to forget to take Metformin. Its not as horrible as it seems. Sister, do you have triggers for your period? For me, if I carry heavy things or do a lot of exercise it helps bring it along. Also, DTD will help because it floods your bloodstream with hormones that can help AF come a long. Don't forget that your research puts you under much stress and that can delay periods more.
We're all in your shoes (or have been there recently). Its hard to go through much testing just for a baby when others can breathe and get pregnant. As I tell other sisters, the wait and the heartache make motherhood so much sweeter. Don't worry about venting we all turn to this board for just such a thing*hugs*.

Diamond, Chips, Wantababy, and Bundle- How you ladies doing? Inshallah everything is going well?
Chips- I'm sorry about what is going on at home with you. Please share all pregnancy milestones with us, especially since you are not finding too many people to share those things with. We are all here for you *hugs*
BTW, I'm also not taking the H1N1 nor will Sarah get it either (they are trying to do it in the schools). I'm sorry but vaccines take years to create and run full testing on. You can't tell me that within 10 months after H1N1 outbreaks, they have this 'safe' vaccine. For our pregnant sisters, stay away from crowds and wash wash wash wash your hands. Inshallah you'll be fine.
NHA and Mahjab- Welcome sisters to this board. We are a close knit of women from all over the globe who share PCOS problems as well as personal issues and achievements.

Mahjab- Its not the coffee per se, its the caffeine in the coffee. So you can probably drink decaf coffee and be ok (but double check with your doctor). Are you pregnant yet or TTC? Its a good idea (if you are pregnant) to nix all caffeine from your diet (soda, tea, etc). If you're TTC, you should take a Folic Acid supplement (800 mg) per day. Having a normal level of folic acid will help prevent many birth defects but its important in the first few weeks after conception. That's why they say women who are TTC to be on a supplement since you won't know that you are pregnant for a few weeks.

Married July 2006
Dgnsd 1999 ish
No treatment or medictions at the mo.
'Bare the trials and tribulations for today for tommorrow is another day.'
I just watched a programme on Telly about the Atkins diet. As is typical of TV shows they didn't say whether it was good or bad! Instead they presented evidence against and for it. One lady mentioned how all her PCOS symptoms went away after she went on the diet, lost weight, starting ovulating and had a baby without any medication at all!
Now I know I have put on loads of weight since I got married. I was always chubby, then put on 15 kilos which made me obese. I am now trying to loose this weight, in the last four months I lost 4 kilos, but don't seem to be loosing anymore. Since I started reading, I realised that PCOS makes it difficult to loose weight and that Atkins may work.
There is no 1 diet out there that will help with the weight loss and pcos.. What may work for one may not work for the other.. I am on the south beach diet and that has helped me lose a lot if weight..(with crazy hours at the gym too!) However when I tried the atkins diet it just gave me headaches and I think it's too restrictive.. U should maybe research a few types and see what best fits ur lifestyle. Also one simple advice my GP gave me was to just cut what ever portion I eat in half I think that helped a lot too!!

Green- I agree with Zainab, no one diet fits all. I too, am on South Beach diet (when I don't fall off the wagon). South Beach is similar to Atkins except it also promotes healthy fats as opposed to Atkins which just says any fats. South Beach is also less restricitive. Atkins says "no carbs" period..end of sentence. South Beach says no carbs for the first two weeks (called Phase One if you google 'South Beach"). Then after that you can slowly bring in good carbs (such as fruit instead of candy) or brown rice instead of white rice. I've started South Beach diet since last November and I've lost about 45 lbs. I need to lose another 40 but I'm not "on the ball" always. I'm sure if I was very strict on myself I would have lost that other forty too. I'm on South beach in conjuction with Metformin as well.
Zainab- How are you feeling? Inshallah better. I think something is going around with this crazy weather. I think we all have dreams like your mother in law...although not in that detail. I just keep dreaming about baby shopping (like actually shopping for babies in a store instead of shopping for baby clothes). Too many babies on the brain!!
AFM, I just finished Sarah's school party stuff. Tomorrow is Sarah's last day in school because of the therapy, so her class is having their Halloween party tomorrow. So I've put together baskets for the kids as well as made candy (in shapes of ghosts, pumpkins, and spiders) for the kids. Luckily, Sarah's class has only three other students so its not that much to prep. Sarah just loves the candy and the jack-o-lanterns.

Sakinah- Salam sister. Thanks for that idea. I have no idea how to knit but I'm sure some of the other sisters (like Nomadic) would do great with this!
