Salam sisters. I have not heard back from the doctor in Germany for today. I'm on nails just wanting to know what she (dr.) thinks.

Nomadic- So should I wish you congrats on your pregnancy? I really really want to, but I'm waiting for the official "I'm pregnant" post from you. I hate jumping the gun. My DH and I actually had three wedding parties. We got first married in the UK (where he was living) then we went to Lebanon and had a party with his family and high school friends, then we went to Iowa and had a party there with my family and friends. Of course his mom came to the first one in the UK and I have an aunt and an uncle who made it to the second party. Three weddings to the same guy, I think by the third the whole excitement kind of went away but that's ok! Six Flags sound like fun, but yeah you'll have to wait to ride on the big rides. Inshallah your blood test goes better tomorrow. I actually also have to go in for blood work tomorrow too. I hate needles, I'm so glad I'm not a diabetic.

Crufil- Well I do hope it goes well either way. Do you have a hard time getting in for appointments? After DH and I got married we lived in Bradford for 6 months. I was sick once and it took a few days to get in. It was kind of different because in the US I'm usually squeezed in the same day.

ZonBonBon- Welcome to the thread. I'm not from MI, I live in FL. While I'm sad that you've been Dx with PCOS, I'm glad you found this thread and hopefully you'll get a lot of support from this little group we have going on this thread. I had issues with weight loss and my doctor put me on the South Beach Diet and Metformin. Together, I was able to lose about 33 lbs since Nov. Perhaps that might help.

Chips- Thanks for the prayers and duaa.

FaithandHope- It sounds like you have a wonderful husband. The world of difference can happen in life when we have a wonderful support system. A supportive husband is number one because usually, that's the person we are closest to. Inshallah you'll be pregnant soon, and that doctor who said that is a liar (or else not very educated). Many many women with PCOS have children, it just takes a little bit longer and a little bit of medical intervention. As I always say its not HOW you get pregnant but the child at the end (end result) that's important.

BTW- DH is dear husband and M/C is miscarriage. FOB (what Nomadic posted later) is her own invention of fresh off the boat (LOL), meaning new immigrant to the US.

mamawantmore- I see from your signature that you've had a few M/C and I'm sorry to read that. Please take the signal from your body to rest to actually do so. I've seen many women take up crazy housework when this is the time to rest. When I was pregnant with Sarah I slept for the whole pregnancy. My DH would go to work and come home in the afternoon and I was still asleep. Its normal, just do what your body wants and inshallah you'll feel better once the first trimester passes.

@ngel- Salam sister. Welcome to our thread. Your wonderful words will, inshallah, inspire us all to be better people. Remember, what seems like a blessing to someone might be a curse. Translating to English, there is something that my parents used to quote (I can't remember if it was actual Quaran or Hadeeth) but it means "Don't love something, because it can be bad for you. And don't hate something because it can be good for you." Meaning what you hate, Allah SWT might have given it to you because it was a blessing in disguise and what you love can turn out to be the worst thing that could happen. I know its hard to see others with children when it takes us soo much effort to get pregnant, but everyone has issues. Some people can have children but have horrible or inattentive spouses. I think I'd rather have a loving husband and no children than vise versa.

Assalamu Alaikum sisters

Sarah's mom - Yeah I have them on my 'to do' list. I think I'll get done with exams and then try the herbs. Rogaine costs a lot, so I am going to try herbs for a while and then switch to them. Sending lots of prayer for Sarah. Insha Allah things will turn out the best for her, and I love your marriage story I should start looking around in my uni too LOL

Meggy - I am so sorry to hear about your loss sister. I cant imagine what you are going through. We are all here to support you. Sending lots of prayers and hugs your way. May Allah give you the sabr. Ameen
Dont get disheartened sis, Insha Allah soon you will be blessed with a precious little bundle of joy, Ameen -Hugs-

ZonBonBon - Welcome to the board sis. You will find lots of help and support from our wonderful sisters here.

@ngel - Welcome here. Your post was very inspirational and you are right, shifa is only in the hands of Allah subhana wata'ala. Doctors only say what they have studied through their medical years but ultimate decision maker is just Allah and when He wills, no doctor or surgeon can go against His will.
May Allah provide everyone sabar here and bless us all with good health and happiness. Ameen

As for me, I and sis Noor are working together to lose weight and we are both going to try being all herbal. We first decided to take Vitex but now we are giving Feriliaid a try. Initial plan was to STICK to no carb diet, but oh boy that is hardddd lol. With exams on their way I am so stressed out and I never crave for sugar (other than occassionally) but these days all I think about is muffins and chocolate's LOL.
MashaAllah sis Noor has a strong will power and she was able to lose 10 lbs last month. I am sure she will do it this time as well. -Hugs-

Asalam Alaikum

Sarahs Mom: I pray everything goes well for your little one and Allah grants what is best for her and you. Yes in Uk they do seem to take ages they also said they would have done absolutely nothing if we were not trying for a baby becasue it is not dangerous. Yet when the doctor printed out information for me to read on PCOS it said it you have higher risk of heart disease, diabetes and cancer. So i am thinking you would still need to treat it right..

Faith and Hope: Thats is good that accupuncture helped you. My mum did keep saying when i was having accupuncture that i have a healthy glow in my complexion because i was also taking chinese herbs. But i feel i tried it for long enough and it was time to move on.

ZonBonBon and Angel i am also new and this place is very helpful and comforting. I think i feel very relaxed now that i have somewhere to go for advice. You can tell friends and family but i dont think anyone other than your Husband or Sisters who actually have it will really understand what it feels like.

Angel your words are very touching it is so true to realise that it is only by the Will of Allah that you will have cure.

Masha Allah my DH always reminds me that if we dont have it in this life Allah wil give us something better in the next life. Maybe Allah is saving us from something as children can also be a test. Maybe this time in our lives is not right for us. Allah knows best..

Nope, I always started out on 50mg. I ovulated the first time on 50mg. I also ovulated on one round of femara at 2.5mg but only did that once. This cycle, I am on clomid 50mg again and I went in for a CD10 scan..i have 3 follicles but all are under 10mm. Last month at this time, on the same dosage I had one huge one...so not sure..if this cycle is a bust or they will grow...

I am surprised your doc just said openly to you that people with PCOS can't have kids? There are so many ways and also, all you need is to ovulate...people all over these boards with extreme cases have gotten pregnant.

Do you normally get your periods w/o meds?

Ssarahsmom- Inshallah everything will go well with Sarah's appointment. Let us know when you hear something,, inshallah.

We should all be thankful for having wonderful husbands and and thank Allah swt for all that he has given us. Inshallah with some patience and prayer, we will all be blessed with pious kids soon.

ZonBonBon- Welcome!! Some of us here are also new to this board to so It's exciting. Just from my own experience I have been told on and off that I have PCOS but now I know for sure that I do. Its just really hard to detect sometimes. But the facial hair and the weight gain, pimples...Thank god I don't have anything severe but Its there. You are deff not alone in TTC. Have you spoken to your doctor about what your options are regarding Fertility?

Crunfil- To be very honest with you. Before, going into accupunture I was losing so much hair that It was evident that I was thinning my hair line. But in that sense Accupunture has worked miracles. Cause now I have healthy hair and I was only going for three months. Oh and it also must have help with PCOS cause I started noticing less faicial hair grown. The only reason I stopped going was bc my doctor asked me to go on Provera and I can't even remember the last time I got my period so she wanted to induce one. Well when I got my period I bled so much that I was put on bed rest. It was really bad, they were not even able to draw blood from my arms. But now its my 3rd cycle and the periods are getting better...On Provera offcourse. I don't know if I will have a period on my own.

Nomadic- I'm doing great and thank you so much for the Abbreviations. It really helps. I never imagined how strong Clomid could be but It was so bad that I would start crying at 8am and would not stop thill 2-3pm. Everything pissed me off and my poor DDH was taking it all in. What did they change you to? Was it fermera?

A little about me. I've been married for 3 years and we found out I have PCOS 1 month before getting married. Just by chance he was visiting me and I asked him to come to the doctors appt. When the doctor told us that girls with pcos "tipically can't have kids" I thought that would be the end of our relationship. Cause he loves kids. But, MasAllah he told me then that he married me for me and kept his promise. My very Darling hubby is very supportive and one in a million. Inlaws are just as nice. They ask once in a while but don't really impose. I'm Paki but too American for them. So the nagging part is when all our friends and stangers ask when we are giving them the good news. That just annoys me at time. But this is life. I think I'm starting to understand this phase Allah has put me in a little better each day. I'm starting to become more patient and praying more often. So many other great things have come out of this challange.

The best of luck to all of you guys. I'm so excited that we can go through this together. I know no one will understand my struggles better then you ladies!!

I am going to be praying for each and everyone of us tonight. (Because I'm off from school tomorrow) J/K : 0 ) ~

*Forgive me for all my typos*

Wantababy786- Hey, Yeah that was a tough time with that doctor. But that was the last time I saw her since we moved to another state. I was angry at her for a while but 3 years ago PCOS may not have been that understood as it is now.

As for my periods...I have to take some kind of medicine to get them. This is the first time ever that I have been on inducing medicine 3 months stright in a row. I use to get my period when I was 16 for 5-6 months stright and then I found out it was bc I had a cyst in my left overy. I also have a blocked Fallopian tube so that makes it harder for me to have my own period.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Yes I know it is nice to have a support system because it is difficult for people who aren't going through this to know how we feel. Alhumdulilah I have a supportive husband also. He knew about my condition before we even got engaged and he said it didnt mater to him and he would get through it together.

LOL now the south beach diet part, or any diet for that matter..I am pakistani and we cook GREASY food and as i am working full time it is very difficult to cook my own food so right now i am at my mothers mercy who offcourse loves cooking gravies and parathas(oil n bread). But I am trying to do a mixture of different diets and portion control but its a work in progress and have a long way to go. Also i am very bad with temptations, very easily derail from my diet and excercise regime.

I would love to find someone from MI here and have a "workout" buddy.

ZonBonBon- That makes alot of sense. And, having our nikkah done before we get married has been a paki terdition for so long. But, I'm really happy knowing that your getting all this information before you get "Married". I only wish I did. Oh and one me thing...I miss my mom's Paratha and Salan so much! You are so lucky and enjoy every minute of it. Lucky you!

^ lol salan is a curry, it can have chicken/meat/lentil/veges. Basically gravy that you have with a flat bread. Its a pakistani thing. Paratha is a flat bread that is cooked in oil and/or butter. So very very fatty things. And in pakistani/indian culture there is a lot of bread and rice, i dont think they go without A LOT carbs for any meals.

faithandhope
I do enjoy it a lot but its very difficult to lose weight like that. I get so tempted! Do you live away from your mom? I tell my mom even when I move out i am still coming back for her food. I am guessing you are pakistani also.

Also, keep in mind..with PCOS...even if you don't know you have it...people dont always ovulate but they DO ovulate spontaneously...therefore you can even get pregnant naturally..but will take more time obviously..

are you on metformin yet? if not, i would highly recommend you get on it and take at least 1500mg. It restores normal periods and ovulation alone in many women. Also, if you start taking clomid or femara it will help you react better to the medicines.

My case is very hard...because no one knows if I really have pcos..my RE doesnt think so because I don't have any symptoms...the only thing is my lh:fsh ratio was 2:1 and I always get my period...but i dont think i always ovulate cause i have short cycles that are like 23-25 days long...so my issue is kind of confusing. I'm just focusing on trying to make sure I ovulate with medicines.

is there anything you can do about your tube? maybe thats why you arent getting pregnant, cause if the egg is released on that side it won't be able to fertilize.
