I'm back from my endochrinologist appointment and in tears. I'm completely crushed. The specialist suggested that I go on birth control for a couple of months and when I told her that we were still trying for a baby she said "It doesn't matter if I go on birth control because I'm probably not ovulating anyway. And do I really want to get pregnant this soon after a miscarriage (July 2007) and at my weight." Then she said, "You'll be pregnant and 250 pounds." and she looked so disgusted that I started crying. Then she suggested that I should let her or my doctor know if I wanted to go on anti-depressants.
So in follow up, I am being sent for more blood work on November 14 and at the end of November on top of my ultrasound at the end of the month. Why is it so hard? I can't take this pain anymore -- I feel like tearing out my ovaries and giving them back. I hate being defective.

I might suggest you check to see if there is a reproductive endocrinologist in your area that you can go see. They are specialist in reproductive medicine and used to situatons like yourself. They will be able to handle all your endocrinologist questions and your fertility questions in one appointment. Save trips to the doctor while you're still trying.

Wow, I am so sorry for you. I'd suggest trying to find a different doctor, someone who listens to what YOU want? I'm so sorry you have to deal with that.

It was a reproductive endocrinologist that I saw. My regular doctor is WAY better in the tact area then this lady was.
As for another specialist, she is apparently the best choice so I am going to work harder at losing weight I guess and for the motivation part, I'll stick to reading these posts.

Sheri, hugs on the miscarriage and on the dr! Some drs are just... nitwits. They can be brillant as far as medicine, but they're nitwits otherwise. I will say I've seen plenty of cysters get pregnant the cycle right after a miscarriage, and I've seen plenty get pregnant even though they're 250lbs. So I don't really get what the big deal is. If you feel ready, then that's all that matters. I pray your RE can get with the program and figure out the concept of "bed side manner"!

((Hugs)) Sorry to hear your doctor is so insensitive. We put so much in their hands - its crushing to be treated that way. Are there other RE's in your area? I've come to find out that sometimes the "Best" doctors have the WORST bedside manner. They are all in their heads and forget the personal aspect of medicine.

Thanks everyone for your support. I went to my doctor the next day because I had an ear infection, but also to get her opinion on what happened. She is AMAZING, she agreed that the information and especially the attitude was completely wrong. She is sending me to a gyno that works out of her office, and I have an appointment at the end of January. I don't mind waiting.
I feel a lot better.
Thanks again for all of your kind words, I kept reading this thread over and over on Monday when I was in tears.

Wonderful! I'm glad you got another professional who agreed the gyno wasn't quite right. I pray the new dr is just the ticket! Good luck!!!!

Sarah, your post made me laugh a bit - nothing especially funny about it, except it was an RE that I saw. So that's where I see the humour.
I am 190 pounds, and for the life of me I don't see the problem. I mean sure, I could be lighter, but I am a healthy person, don't eat processed foods and am exercising more. This is why she seemed so out-to-left-field in her comments.
The only thing I could take away from seeing her was that she has something against heavier women getting pregnant. She must have been about 110 pounds soaking wet. I could have crushed her if I sat on her -- wait a minute, that sounds like a good idea now!

Oh, man, that sounds awful! I have my first appointment with a RE tomorrow and I am so nervous about it! I even had a bad dream the other day that they just sent me away with nothing and said "come back in 6 months". I just don't understand how these doctors that are supposed to SPECIALIZE in people trying to get pregnant can act like they don't understand it... Makes me want to smack them in the head and say DUH! We're seeing a REPRODUCTIVE endocrinologist because we want to REPRODUCE. Not go on birth control and wait!!!

You are NOT defective. God made you the way you are and God does NOT make defective people (or anything else for that matter). I am so sorry you are hurting and that your dr. was a dink and so hurtful. (((HUGS))) as you decide what to do and as you deal.
