Default My best friend is having unreal health problems

Ok this is going to be long but please read this. My best friend and I have known each other since we were 12. We are now 32. When my friend was in her late 20's they diagnosed her with Multiple Sclorosis. This was devestating for everyone. She had always had "spells" in which she would be blind for a few seconds and had numbness since she was a teenager. My friend married her high school sweetheart at the age of 22. When she was 28 she found out she was pg. They had never used any kind of birth control so this was a surprise and she was worried about the MS causing problems. This was also her first year of nursing school. When the baby was 3 months old my friend found out she was pg again. Again very stunned but happy. Then when the second child was 6 months she found out she was pg again. She was very happy because she really thought she probably would never have kids. During her pregnancy with her 3rd child they found out my friend had a heart problem and would need a valve replaced in her heart within 10 years. That was scary for her but she felt good and it was years down the road before she had to worry about surgery. Her Dr. wanted to do another MRI to see how her MS was progressing. During the MRI they found 3 brain tumors. All of which were in spots where it could take her life. They were not cancer. So a week after her scan she went to the Dr. because she felt ill and she found out she was pg with the 4th baby. Since she was pg she couldn't pursue any treatments for the tumors and yes she has 4 children 5 and under Anyways after the last baby was born they found a heart mumur in the baby. They did more tests and found the baby had an anurysm (sp?) and a hole in her heart. They decided to test her every 4 months to see how both conditions were doing. Since it had been almost a year since my friend's last MRI they decided to do another one. The result were that the tumors had grown and with a second and third opinion the Dr's decided she needed to have brain surgery within 3 weeks. The surgery went well but they were not able to remove all of the tumors. The one that was the worst still remains because it is wrapped around a cluster of arteries. It is inoperable. That was also very devastating news. The surgery was in May of this year and my friend is doing great we thought. My friends heart Dr. called her about 2 weeks after her brain surgery and told her they neede to check her heart again to see if there has been any damage done in the last few years. Well she got a call a week ago and it is worse that they thought. The valve needs to be replaced immediately but there had been severe damage to her heart due to a heart defect she never knew about and having babies so close together made it worse. She is going in for open heart surgery within the month. Thanks if you have read all of this so far. I am just devastated. They said even if they replace the valves in her heart it is still damaged beyond repair. How could all of this happen to one person. She is a very good, kind, and loving person. I am a strong Christian but my faith is very low right now as is my friends. Her main concern is her kids. She has a wonderful husband and he is just beside himself. I know through God all things are possible I just feel like how much more can this family take? She also found out the whole in the babies heart didn't close like they had hoped so they need to run more tests on the baby. You would never know my friend was so sick. She looks good and feels good. I just ask for your prayers for my friend to have a safe recovery AND to keep her faith and her hubbies faith in tact no matter what happens. Thanks for listening. I am just so scared for their family.

Oh, how awful. I will definitely keep her in my prayers. Please try to keep a positive attitude. I just can't imagine a young mother going through something so devastating.

God Bless,

I am so very sorry to hear this news. I will stand in prayer for you and your friend and her family. I know during very difficult times, its hard to hang on to your faith, but now is when they need it the most. Its ok to pray for faith, and for God to help your faith stronger.

God bless you and your friend, and especially her family. I can only imagine the thoughts that run thru their heads daily.

It just doesn't seem fair that one person should have to go through so many things!

I will be praying for her and the baby and this entire difficult situation.

She is blessed to have a caring friend like you!

Kathryn
