I know what you mean about the normal A1c yet the icky feeling when you eat too much sugar. I still want my doc to do an insulin tolerance test on me, but I think he's handing me over to an endocrinologist (my last labs apparently stumped him). So we'll see what all she orders... My testosterone was high (89) back in October when I was diagnosed, but the Yasmin has worked and it's 19 now. Like I said, though, my doctor seems to have enough doubts in his head to not want to mess with it anymore.
I did notice that my sugar-ickiness and fatigue in the afternoons hasn't been as bad since I made myself start exercising regularly, but I'm also being more careful about what I'm eating too.
Just wanted to let you know that you aren't alone. I still haven't figured out how to get it thru some doc's heads that being vague is BAD... either you have something or you don't.. and if they aren't sure, they should figure out a way to rule one of 'em out. So yes, Arg!
I am one of the people that has almost normal labs with all of the symptons of PCOS. My gyno talked to the local RE and he said that befor starting me on any med she should make sure that I really do have PCOS. Well she did all of the BW she could do and finally DX me with PCOS. The worst part is that it took them 10 years to give me a true DX.
I used to be tired all of the time and now that I have stopped drinking coffee and cut out all of the sweets that I used to eat I feel alot better.

I don't know what to tell you about the testosterone but the hgbA1c is just to see if your blood sugars have been erratic. The higher your hgbA1c, the more abnormal (high) your bs have been. So, you could have a normal hgbA1c and be IR because the IR wouldn't make your bs go up.
What you need tested is your fasting insulin level or a glucose tolerance test with insulin levels. IR is a problem of too much serum insulin, not too much serum glucose (which is what the A1c would test for).
