Question My body's going crazy! Way TMI... Is this normal???

Ok, I am having a bit of a problem. Have a Dr.'s appt. on June 20th to try & get the "OK" to TTC again & to get back on meds. But, for the past couple of weeks, I have been irritable, acne breakouts, upset stomach, nausea, sore breasts, cramping, some "ovarian twinges", etc. Less hair than normal, though. No changes in eating habits, exercise, meds, weight, or anything else that I think would affect my body. All the signs were there, but no AF for more than a year. The last one I had was Feb., 2005... and that one, as well as all of the ones for 2 years before that were from BCP, progesterone, etc. Took a HPT last week & another day before yesterday just to see. BFN, but that wasn't a surprise. Yesterday, some spotting. It was light & light pink. Today, a real AF...I had almost forgotten what it was like. It is dark pink/red, and fairly heavy, but not constant, HEAVY bleeding. Is this normal? Has anyone else had AF show up unannounced & unexpected after 3 years without one on their own? Thank you for your advice & replies!

Update/New Question: Could a sunburn be to blame? I did get sunburned VERY badly last weekend, and on my way home from work, I saw that the sunburn finally blistered. That is the ONLY thing that I can think of that is different. Could it be related, or is it just a freak coincidence with the timing? I am confused & a little worried. It has been 3 years since I got AF on my own, without any meds. Does anyone know what could have triggered it? ANY advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

I have always gotten mine on my own (not every month) and I think it is better that way. I think that sometimes we get so used to using something to get them to start that we are supprised that we can have them on our own. I dont think it has anything to do with the sunburn but I could be wrong.

Well, mine use to come on once every two months then it cut off completly. I do find that it comes on by its self once in a while (every couple of years yes years) I find that when I'm stressed and worried about something it will come on by its self. When it does come on on it's own it is heavy, dark brown it almost looks black and it smells (like old blood) it stays on for a good seven days. This does not happen to often but when it does it's nasty. If your going to your GYN on the 20th, let him/her know your worries and concerns.

Heady, I think that you were right about the sunburn. It seems like it was just a coincidence as far as the timing went. My sunburn is gone now.

4ever, I thought that it would be dark & heavy, too, after such a long time, but it isn't. I think that is the weirdest part, how normal it is.

Thank you for your input. I guess that I will mention it to my dr. at my appointment next week, since it is not normal for me. But, it does make me relieved to know that I am not the only one that this has happened to.
