Fellow Eaters,
I have just created a little recipe for cooked cereal that was incredibly good and good for us.
Fiber Cereal
2 Tablespoons Oat Bran
2 Tablespoons Wheat Bran
2 Tablespoons Flaxmeal
pinch of salt, optional
approximately 3/4 cup water
Stir all ingredients together and microwave on high until it has boiled throughout, about 1 and 1/2 minutes.
Add milk or butter to serve, if desired, and sweeten to taste, if desired.
I didn't sweeten mine, but I stirred in some milk and really enjoyed it! I plan to experiment with this combination and make some crackers, which I know we would all like to eat again. I'm hoping for a "wheat thin" sort of finished product, but with very low net carbs. Enjoy!

Have you seen Nature's Path Organic Optimum Power Cereal?
It is Flax Soy Blueberry. It is a little high in carbs, but in good carbs. The ingredients are...
Organic whole wheat bran, organic whole wheat meal, organic evaporated cane juice, organic soy flour, organic puffed Kamut, organic flaxseeds, organic barley malt extract, organic soy fiber, organic oat bran, organic freeze-dried blueberries, sea salt, organic cinnamon, calcium carbonate, folic acid, cyanocobalamin (vitamin B-12), tocopherols (natural vitamin E) added to enhance freshness.
Total Carbs for 1 cup of cereal 40g
dietary fiber 10g
sugars 16g
Protein 8g
It is so yummy, never thought I would like it. I was at Costco and happened to pick the box up to see what was all in it and a lady told me it was so delicious. She was so excited about the taste that I had to buy it to see for myself. Well, I couldn't wait until breakfast, so I opened it when we got home and WOW!!!! I love it. Well, I could do without the blueberries as they don't have much flavor when freez-dried, but they are there for other reasons than flavor. Dh has eaten a bowl every morning since and he loves it. It is wonderful without milk so I could eat it as a snack.

Sounds great! Right now, while I'm trying hard to lose weight, I'm not eating any "evaporated cane juice", better known as white sugar. After I reach my goal, I look forward to treats like this one, because I like it by the handful for snacks, like you're talking about.

That cereal is sooo yummy but I don't buy it anymore; too much sugar. All the articles I've read about chosing a healthy breakfast cereal say sugar should be less than 6 grams. Don't be fooled with words like "organic evaporated cane juice"; it's just sugar with a fancier name.
