Our doc has set up something similar. We can go to emerg, I think, but not walk in clinics. Not without calling the group number first. If we go to a walk in, the doc is penalized somehow. We don't have to pay anything.
*Edit - here's some info from the sheet they gave us....
Quote:
"What do I do for regular medical appointments or urgen medical problems during office hours?" Call the office... If the office is closed on a weekday, the recorded message will direct you on how to reach the Doctor urgently.
"What do I do for urgent medical problems during evenings, weekends and holidays?" Call the Telephone Health Advisory Service to speak wiht a registered nurse and, when necessary, involve the doctor on call for our network.
"What do I do for medical emergencies?" Go directly to the nearest hospital emergency room or call 911...
Walk in clinics are no longer needed once you are in the network. Family Health Network doctors are in fact charged a penalty by OHIP every time an enrolled patient uses one (Note: there is no such penalty for care given at a hospital emergency room).
As a result, patients who use walk in clinics may hve their enrolment in the Family Health Network withdrawn.
