Default My Confession - I've been a naughty girl

Well - it was just a matter of time before I got the balls to try. I got so irritated looking at carbs with lustful eyes. I just wanted to eat a meal without thinking about what potential side effects it might had. So I prepared myself :
  1. Choosing to eat my meal 4 hours after taking Met
  2. Took 2 immodium as a precautionary measure
Where did I go - The Indian buffet near my office. And boy did it taste good :

  1. Naan bread
  2. Chicken Biryani
  3. Basmati Rice
  4. Chicken Curry
  5. Goat Curry
  6. Spicy potatoes and green beans
I limited myself to one plate - thinking it would help! But now I've just spent the last 10 minutes doubled over in the bathroom questioning if it was worth it. I mean it tasted good! Like heavenly good. After all how much low carbing / no carbing can a woman take? I just wanted to eat a normal meal hehehe - so I've been a naughty girl and although my taste buds are in heaven, my stomach is in hell.... sigh! PCOS has its moments!

** grin ** I'm glad I made at least one person smile. I was in complete denial - I've been real good about not indulging in the carbs.... but ..... indian buffet! How can you resist. Needless to say, my stomach is now empty so there's nothing left to come out I'll live to tell the story.

Now when I prep foods, I've never been a fan of grease, so my versions are heavy on spices but not salt or fat. But buffet food is always oily for some reason

I did the same thing yesterday. The hubby took me out to Red Lobster and I can eat seafood like a champ. Seafood isn't the problem though...those amazing biscuits are! I had three...I haven't eaten bread that wasn't whole wheat in a month. I paid the price for it last night though...my gosh! I wish health food tasted that good...it would make taking met a lot easier!

So sorry for your pain! Have definitely been there too. Tell myself after I eat "bad" food that I won't do it again. (But seem to tell myself that every time - I must have convenient short-term memory loss!) Does it help/hurt/or make no difference to take your Metformin 4 hours before a meal? I take 1,000mg in morning right before breakfast and 1,000mg anytime before dinner or even later before bed if I am out or forget. What does taking it so soon before a meal do for you? Which way gives you the least intestinal upset (i.e. diarrhea, cramps, etc)? Lovely dinner topic, huh? hee hee

I can't take it without food without feeling totally nauseas. In the morning I take it with milk / cereal and at night I take it with dinner.

I have better luck eating naughty stuff if it's HOURS after I've taken a metformin. I have a golden two hour window from 1 - 3 where I seem to have the best luck deviating from my diet

I tried tomato soup for dinner and (not exaggerating) I was in the bathroom, repeatedly, for the next two hours. I stopped counting after 15 trips. Even right now, 5 hours after eating my stomach is churning. The good news is that I'm about 5 pounds lighter and the toilet bowl was stripped bare and is a nice shiny white! Bad news, cramping, dehydration, and fear of ever eating again!

Tell me about it! I've been on 1500 mg for about two weeks now, and everything has been going great. Well I got a wild hair up my a$s yesterday and decided to go to McDonald's and get a DOUBLE quarter pounder with cheese meal (with a regular Coke!) AND an Oreo McFlurry. Well about 15 minutes later my intestines unleashed the wrath of hell and it didn't stop until about 8:00 last night. Needless to say I'll never do that again...

oh my gosh you gals made my day! I am laughing with you, and not at you.
I took my met on an empty stomach once last week. I was not hungry and figured I better take it at the normal time. Well 3 hours later I was hungry and ate 2 pizza pockets and 2 regular sized chocolate chip cookies and a big bottle of ice tea.....I was soooooooooooooo sick and vomiting at 3 in the morning that I will NEVER do that again!

Man! Is this how met works--keeping you away from high fat/high sugar foods by making you violently ill if you eat them?! Well, there's a lot to be said about aversion therapy, I guess. What a crazy drug! I wonder why it does this.

Sorry, I have nothing really to add, just my astonishment. Holy!

ETA: I've just started it too, so I'm glad to be forewarned...

Yes metformin promises "explosive unpredictable make your insides liquefy with no warning" diarrhea when you deviate from the program.

My gripe with it is that I actually had healthy eating habits....

Heavy on protein, loved fruits, loved veggies, loved salads.....

Now I admit I liked pasta but not really mac and cheese, I preferred lighter pasta dishes.

Now I've been reduced to eating things like ... whole wheat pita and hummus with fresh fruit as a meal. Sheesh - where's the fun in that......

And I think metformin HATES lettuce coz I had my first salad since met.... and yeah.... it wasn't pretty.

I have to join in on the laughing.

I'm smart enough to stay away from my trigger foods... But my weakness is still Greek pastries. Luckily the only time they are available here is around x-mas. I even went as far as looking up a recipe for baklava, and had nightmares over the amount of butter needed for it.
