Tomorrow is our 5yr Wedding anniversary. I was reading that the traditional gift is wood. I want to do something special but we have little cash this year, any ideas on how to incorporate wood into a gift without spending much money. I had a thought of us going for a walk on the beach and looking for some Driftwood. Any other ideas for a nice traditional wood gift for little or no cash.

When I was first married I started a jar of things I picked up in places we'd been... I'd pick up a pebble, small piece of driftwood, a pine cone, a shell, a feather, etc. wherever we went. And I'd add them to the jar. Friends who know I do this have even started to pick up things from places they go to add to my jar.

My collection now lives in a tall glass vase on my living room shelf and people always ask about it. It now contains things from many places in England, Wales, Spain, Poland, France, Belgium, the Caribbean, Canada, and several States in North America. It's nice to tip them all out from time to time and remember where they've all come from.

How about a scavenger hunt. You could hide clues in a tree, under a log, in a bird house, (anything that is wood, etc). . .the clues could lead back to finding a back massage, favorite dinner, or something that he really loves...

Oh I really like the scavenger hunt idea. I love scavenger hunts. I am filing that away in my mind for a special occasion.
