I'm kinda late in seeing this, sorry. I take Dexamethasone, and it has helped me a lot. I don't have any s/e's with it. I only take it from CD3 until Ov as well. My DHEA-S isn't above the limit either, but it's high. So is my Testosterone.
It's a glucocortoid, and lowers the levels of DHEA-S and Testosterone, it can also help with insulin sensitizing. So even if the number isn't above the line, being high can still interfer with things.
I did not respond to Clomid at all for the most part. Then one cycle I took Clomid and Prednisone on the same days... I had fallen down my porch steps and got whiplash, which is why I was on Prednisone, not for fertility reasons. But Prednisone is a glucocortoid, just like Dex. Low and behold, I responded
stellar to the Clomid that cycle, and got pregnant (m/c later, unrelated to treatment)
So awhile after that, I started researching it, and asking my doc to test my levels. For me, it was worth it. I honestly think that just trying one cycle will not hurt, and several research articles I have read say the same... that one cycle for Clomid resistant PCOS patients with high DHEA-S, and if it doesn't help discontinue it... I posted some links on this thread if you want to check them out:
Extended Use of Clomid
