Two days ago my father attempted suicide. We did not know where he was, called the police, and thankfully they found his car at a local motel. It had been 24 hours since he had taken a bunch of pills and alcohol, and although he was really groggy, he was OK. He will be spending quite a while in the hospital attempting recovery. Right now he still wants to die.
Please keep myself, my mother and sister, and especially my father in your prayers. This is the hardest, most painful thing we have ever been through, and I'm not sure we are all going to make it.

Meghan, I'm so sorry! What a sad story. I'm assuming he has had mental problems in the past? Or was this unexpected? Ether way, this is so much to handle. I am praying for you and your family. I pray your dad finds the peace he is longing for and the help he needs to get over this. I pray you and your family can also find peace and comfort in knowing the Lord is with you always. God bless.
Meghan, I'm so sorry that this happened. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family right now. Please keep us posted, okay? Take care hon.
Meg
I am so sorry you and your family are going through this. I am glad your dad is going to be physically ok- God must have been looking out for him! You and your father are in my prayers as he continues his recovery.

Thanks for posting. My father attempted suicide when I was 5 and when I was 22. It was horrible. You and your family will be okay. I pray that God will hold you, your father and your family close to Him. This is a hard time. Its hard hearing words like that coming from anyone, let alone your father. It can really shake your world. Please email me or PM me if you feel like venting or sharing.
With prayer, some help and time, your family will thrive.
Love and Hugs,

megpaw, I am so very sorry. I will pray for your family. I know what you family is going through, and it's not easy. But the faith in God and prayers will help you all get through this. Youll see. If you ever need to talk you can email me. Take care.
Meghan, I will keep you and your family in my prayers. I won't pretend to understand how you feel but you came to the right place. Prayer is powerful and just the door opener God needs to move in your lives. God bless and keep you. Let us know how things are going.

Well, Dad is doing much better and may be able to come home tomorrow. We found out this week that his last psychiatrist misdiagnosed him as having generalized anxiety disorder instead of chronic depression, and took him off of all his antidepressants. So, he had no antidepressants for 2 years, and that is one of the major reasons this happened. His new doctor started him on Wellbutrin and within 3 days he seemed 100% better.
He has asked all of the doctor's he has seen this last week why he wasn't successful in his attempt, and they have all replied that they do not know. He took enough pills to kill a horse.
Thank you all for your continued prayers and support. Another reason this happened is because my father's business failed (long story). He and my mom are going to have to file for bankruptcy and will most likely lose their home of 21 years. I think they can handle it now that Dad is doing better, but is going to be a long, hard road for all of us.
Thanks everyone for letting me bend your collective ear. All of your prayers and encouragement have been and continue to be sincerely appreciated.
Meghan

Glad to hear things are looking better for you all. I'm reminded of Job which I've been reading recently. God will restore to your father all he has lost and then some! If we only will put God first...miracles will happen and blessing from the skies! I'll continue to pray for him and you/yours as often as I think to. Glad for the good report.
