Arrow My first Gynaecologist appointment...

Mmmm, what a day!! (WARNING...this is long)

I went in, sat in a room and waited patiently for my doctor to arrive. I was supposed to see a male doctor but ended up seeing an Asian lady doctor who I had trouble understanding.

I gave her this sheet I was told to fill in before my appointment (of the symptoms I suffer etc,) and she looked at it. She went through each of my symptoms, asking how long I'd suffered with it and how bad etc,. Acne was on the top of my list but she just said, 'Ahh, well... everybody gets acne.' Errr HELLO!??? Who?????? It's a problem for me and I want it sorted out!!
Then, for weight gain she said, 'That can be treated with exercise...' Yeah right!!!!!!!! Like I have the energy in the first place to exercise!!!!! I actually like exercise but this past year or so, it's been very difficult to find the energy to.

Then she went on to the next symptom, giving a little talk on each one... then, she mentioned that I'd need a 'Transabdominal scan' and a blood test to be taken on the second day of my next period.

Afterwards, she gave me three things. A sheet to give in at reception on my way out, a 'Pathology Request Form' with two bags on either side (one for a urine sample and the other for blood samples) which also had a box ticked for 'Thyroid Profile' and for 'other tests' underneath it was written: LH, FSH, DMEA and Prolactin. And finally a 'Department of Radiology' card stating, "Examination Required: Pelvic Scan' Transabdominal'".

Just before I left she asked if I had any questions! I wanted to ask loads but felt I couldn't (because I couldn't really tell every word she said) and also because of the situation at the time. So basically, I'd like to ask them here JUST INCASE someone can help me out.

My appointment was on the 14th (Wednesday) last week and I was wondering when I'm likely to be given my scan. I don't want anything specific. I just want to know if I'll be waiting weeks or months really. Also, for my blood test, when my next period arrives (which could be months away) do I just turn up at the hospital on the second day of my period and ask to have blood taken or what? Maybe I should ring in and ask, what do you think?

I take it that 'Thyroid Profile' has something to do with having my thyroid tested!? Or I could be wrong.

I was actually on a period at the time of my appointment but I'd gone past my second day which is a real shame as it was my first period in AGES!!!!!!!!

Please tell me anything you think I may want to know while I await my tests. I know I've asked some silly questions. I guess I'm just bored and my mind has started to wander and become curious. Thanks
