My Mood: Points: 45,868.77 Bank: 2,165,118.98 Total Points: 2,210,987.75 | My friend has had 2 miscarriges in 6 months, help? I feel funny asking you lovely ladies this, but I know that you are always very willing to help prevent sadness for others.
My friend, who is around 34, has lost 2 babies in 6 months, and the doctors don't know why, she's had all the blood tests and all is fine.
She is now going to have her uterus completely checked out.
What I wanted to ask is if any of you have any specific suggestions about what tests she can do...
I don't have any other info, she lives in france and we chat in msn once every month, Ijust wish I could help her in some way.
Thanks

Hi Leanne,
You are nice to be concerned about your friend.
I had 3 losses in 7 months and just went through the Recurrent PRegnancy Loss testing process in April.
Read this website, especially the part called "Diagnosis", for what she should be tested for. Her partner should be tested as well.
I was tested for: ovarian reserve levels (and since she's 34, she should be as well), both inherited and acquired blood clotting problems, antithryroid and antinuclear antibodies, etc. (Basically, everything listed on that site except natural killer cells. For some reason my RE skipped that test.) We did not get tested for karyotyping (that I'm aware of) either.
My DH had to go a "Sperm DNA Integrity Test", which came back fair, and I also had to have a hysteroscopy done, which came back "normal." (I do know of someone who discovered she had a septate uterus during a hysteroscopy - there was a wall in her uterus that basically made it so her babies couldn't grow any more after the 8-week mark. She had 4 losses in a year and they were all at the 8-week mark. The RE "fixed" the problem and she's now PG, and I believe she's past the 8-week mark.) My problem turned out to be an acquired blood clotting problem (antiphospholipid antibody syndrome.)
I am leaving my signature on here to give you some hope (to pass along to your friend) - I am currently PG, just hit the 7-month mark. this is my first pregnancy with treatment for APS. Other than having take baby aspirin once a day, and having to jab myself in the stomach with a needle full of heparin twice a day, it's been an uneventful pregnancy.
I hope your friend is able to find some answers and carry to term.

I think she wasn't far along with either of them, definatley not over 2 months for sure.
Sorry Saluki, but can you give me the link for that site, maybe youdid already but what with it being so early I most probably can't see it.
I just want to add that you girls are so strong and an example to us all of just how determined women should be, and well hugs to you all.

My Mood: Points: 6,898.02 Bank: 3.48 Total Points: 6,901.50 | What's sad is that sometimes the answers aren't clear. I don't know what all they tested me for, I only remember having a uterine biopsy. The only thing they told me they found was that my uterus was "mishapen" and they didn't believe it would cause me any problems. The hypothisis is that low projesterone levels caused most of my m/c and more recently that my first pregnancy ended due to IC. It's frustrating to lose baby after baby and not know what to do to stop it. I had 6 m/c in the three years we were doing fertility treatments. I had one many years before. I've had one since Jamie was born, at the end of August. I think that I have found some of the answers for myself. What a long, painful road it can be. (((hugs))) for your friend and (((hugs))) for you b/c you are such a great friend. |
