Default my general dr recommended...

suntanning.

What do you think? I know the summer weather, being in the sun helps with my little pimples that I get on my arms, but I thought suntanning was not good for acne??

Any thoughts or experiences?

TIA

Working on getting to my "ideal" weight. Approach: no sugar and weight training. Right now the symptoms of PCOS are being managed by 1500mg of Metformin and Seasonique birth control. My acne is gone (Praise God!) and I feel great as long as I stay away from sugar and dairy (darn metformin).

I've always thought that using a sun bed was bad for you and it probably is if you use them all the time for long periods of time. However, this year I plan to have a go and see what the results are like. If I'd had a summer holiday I must admit that I would avoid it as I would always have had some rays, but this year I have had no sun (apart from the occasional sunny English day!). My cousin is getting married in December and I don't want to turn up looking pale and spotty, so I am going to give it a go. Apparently it does help your skin, just don't overdo it.

Let me know how you get on, I'd be interested to hear...

I've been told that suntanning is good for acne as it dries out your skin. However, it isn't good for your skin generally. Personally I'd rather have acne than skin cancer.

well, for whatever reason my skin has been doing better. I'm just getting close to O'ing so I'm breaking out a bit, but not with the big cystic acne. It may be the combination from switching to sensitive skin Dove soap, eating almost no sugar and tanning.

We are planning a trip to Hawaii in January so I will stick with it until then. Not sure what I'll do afterward. I'm really hoping I'll be preggo. That was the best time for my skin ever!

Default skin is doing great!

Since starting to tan, switched to sensitive skin dove, using saliyc acid and BP 5% I have not gotten one of those hurtful cysts. I've had one or two pimples that go away fairly quickly with treatment, but other than that it's been amazing! I've also been really limiting my sugar. Maybe I finally found my "miracle mixture" of treatments for my face!
