Default My hair is so thin at the crown...

Im 34 years old and my hair is soo thin at the crown. Is it because of the medicine--metformin? Is the the IR? Has this happened to you? What can be done.? The doctor just brushes me off...I feel like a statistic!

huligoo... some women have found that Met has made their hair loss worse, but most just find it does nothing for the hair loss (mostly, it just stays the same). Hair loss usually equates to your androgens (so your testosterone/DHEA) and your family history. I personally use Nioxin, Nizoral, and women's Rogaine once a day to control my hair loss. You can also take Spiro, Flutamide, Propecia, to control hair loss if it is aggressive. You need to see a dermatologist if you have not already.

i have had thinning hair on my crown for about 20+ years now.. one hairdresser said I have a double crown which doesnt help matters.. I take metformin slow release and have found no difference in the amount of hair that I lose, likewise with spironolactone that never stopped me losing hair on my head.. I have just come off the spiro for other reasons.

i was only diagnosed with pcos like a month or 2 months ago...but my hair was always thinning for the past year and my doctor too just brushed it off and said maybe it's stress or something. i hate how doctors don't understand how depressing it is.
