Hello everyone! My name is Sara. I am 28 years old. I am married to a wonderful man named Len. We have been trying to concieve now since March of 2003. We didn't succeed until August of 2004 and that pregnancy was ectopic. My tube burst and emergency surgery was performed to stop the bleeding. They had to remove my right fallopian tube, which consequently rendered me only 50% fertile no matter what. No pregnancies since. I have suspected PCOS for years now, and whevever I went to my gyno with concerns they were brushed off. I was told if it happens it happens. My husband and I finally got fed up and sought a fertility specialist in June. She diagnosed me PCOS without performing any tests. From my appearance and prior medical history she gleaned that I was PCOS and put me on Metformin 2000mg a day. We have started to typical processes in finding out why we haven't concieved. I had a HysteroSalpingoGram last week to make sure my uterus and fallopian tube were of proper size and function. They are. We did the various bloodtests. Now it's a wait and see game.
Anyway, I come here seeking support, comfort and good advice. I hope to get to know you all!!!
Hi Sara - my name is kate and I too am new here. I was doing some research online and find this site and it was a miracle to know that I am not alone. I was diagnosed with PCOS about 6 years ago when I was 26 and newly married. We have been ttc since then. I had the laporoscopy with normal findings, had the hsg done only to find out that one of my tubes is blocked. Was on clomid for about 8 months - but my gyno never monitored me and kept me on the lowest dose for the whole 8 months. I feel like I am going on and on - it is just that no one in my life understands what it like to feel like you are broken, dont get me wrong they are extremely supportive, but they will never fully understand.
I hope I am not rambling. It is nice to know that there are alot of us out there and we are not alone.
good luck to you
Hi Sara! Welcome to SC! I'm sorry to hear that the first doctor you had brushed you off. You definitely have to find a doctor that will treat you well and address every question you have. As for me...I've recently gotten my HSG done. The radiologist said I looked normal, but I want to wait to hear from my ob/gyn too. My husband has to bring in a sample of his "boys" and then we go in for a follow up with the ob/gyn. What we are hoping for is that everything will be fine with both of us and we will be prescribed fertility drugs. If you go to the ttc boards you will find many successful pregnancies and the ways these women have gotten pregnant. Good luck to you and I'll see you in the ttc boards! Take care...

Welcome here, Sara! I find it odd that you were diagnosed with no tests. Check the stickies (permanent posts) at the top of this Newbie board -- that'll give some info about how docs are supposed to dx PCOS. All the best!
