Default My Kingdom for a diagnosis!!!

Hey there ladies, I've not been around since about January 2006, so I've got some updating to do.

I just got home from having my first U/S scan and I'm slightly disappointed.
The tech couldnt find my ovaries via transabdominal, so we did a transvaginal (nice and painless infact) and found I have a fully normal looking reproductive system except for a 5cm cyst on my left ovary. But nothing else of interest :S

I recently had a bloodtest for Testosterone which came back as "satisfactory" !!! Wha!?! Still got to visit my GP to discuss that one and find out the actual level. My LH, FSH and blood sugar levels all came back within normal boundaries last January. As a result I kindof got too shy to go back for a while

I overcame my depression after coming off bcp's and taking St John's Wort instead But despite following a fantasticaslly yummy and healthy GI/IR diet for the last 12 months I've apparently lost 1kg overall and now weigh in at 92kg... still just into the clinically obese range with a BMI of 30.1 at 5'9".

My hirsuitism has progressed nicely, now extending itself to a treasure trail and about 6 stray hairs on each nipple... hooray. My body acne is as bad as it always was covering my face, chest, shoulders, back and sometimes even spots on my forearms.

I was originally placed on bcp's to control my crazy irregular/nonstop bleeds at age 15. I took bcp's for 5 years and my non-stop irregular bleeds returned in March of last year. my last period was 3 weeks ago and had lasted a continuous 8 weeks before I took meds to stop it, before that there was a 7 week gap, before that there was a 2 week very light bleed, before that there was a 9 day gap and before that there was a 3 week continuous bleed.

Basically, my AF is completely whacked, I show some other symptoms as far as I'm concerned, I only have one cyst and my bloodwork is entirely normal apparently.

Why oh why cant I just reach a conclusion!!!
Sorry, ranting

You sound like you have all the symptoms that I do plus some. You may need to find a new doc to get the diagnosis and treatment that you need. My levels always came back within normal range and my old doc only put me on BCP to regulate my periods. He promised it would also take care of the hair. It not only didn't regulate my periods but it was also a huge disappointment in the hair department.

Good luck!!!!

I'm guessing that u have non-traditional pcos then?
Seriously, i don't know what to say to u, except that i hope u get a diagnosis soon, so u can start treatment.
Big hug coming your way.

Thanks for the replies gals

Fabulous news though, I revisited my gp on Thursday morning to discuss the results and she'd already made up her mind before I arrived.

I walked in and she announced that I definitely dont have PCOS and that I just have irregular periods (yeah... 8 weeks of non stop bleeding until I take meds, exactly the same problems as I had at 15...) She said, it may sort itself out in time since "you're only 21 for goodness sake!" or i'll supposedly just have to accept being on bcp's to regulate it forever!!!

I think she's bonkers.
I'm sat here, mid cycle on Brevinor bcp's (after 10 weeks) with abdominal cramping on and off at random and I'm supposed to just accept that my uterine lining wants to shed continuously for no particular reason and that it isnt a problem???

Does anyone know of specialists in the Manchester UK area? I need to get past the GP hurdle and onto someone who knows what they are talking about and looking at

Even if all your tests come back negative, it doesn't mean you don't have PCOS. Check these links:
