Default My lab levels and goals...

Hi everyone! I saw my endo today and asked him to better explain my lab levels from December. My free thyroid(?) was 6.5 and my TSH was 1.5. He said the Free number was on the low side and that the TSH was normal. What he'd like to see is the Free number be around 8 or 9 and the TSH to be around 0.5 and he said those would be good number for TTC. He increased my Synthroid to 75mcg and said that if I noticed that not working after awhile to increase to 88mcg and call him. I've noticed that in the last week the 50mcg that I currently take isn't really doing it's job anymore and I'm starting to feel like a bag of wet sand again. blah! He also told me that my thyroid is enlarged... not too sure if that means anything or has any significance but I think it has something to do with having thyroiditis? What's that?? He told me that by taking Glucophage and Synthroid I should be ok being pg and I will be safe and not hurt any little baby that I will be carrying. So I am pleased and looking forward to feeling better again. Kind of strange... haven't adjusted quite yet... to the idea that this is lifelong.

The enlargement of your thyroid is a goiter, from your thyroid being overworked in trying to produce. Thyroiditis is inflammation of the thyroid. (there are three kinds: Hashimoto's, De Quervain's , and Silent Thyroiditis).

It can take 6-8 weeks for a doseage to show the work that it is doing, I can't remember how long you've been on synthroid. Some sources state it can take 4-6 months before you start to feel really good again. I know, it's a long road... I get down about it sometimes, but I remember that it took me 31 years to get to this point, I'm trying to be patient.

Hope you are feeling better soon!
