Default My Lapband Journey

Hi All!! I just wanted to share my Lapband experience.

I had surgery on 03/31/09 at Magee's Women's Hospital. We had a wonderful time registering and patiently waiting in the pre op room, I was surprised at how quick and efficient everyone was.....I should have known that wouldn't last

Once I got back to the Pre-Surg room, it all went down hill. It took 4 different Nurses/Drs to get an IV in after....8 attempts all over my body. I still have bruises, big black and blue bruises. Anyhow.....after they finally got an IV in, I was immediately put under and don't remember anything after that until waking in recovery in an excruciating amount of pain. When I asked the nurse why I was in so much pain, she said "Oh, you've been asleep and must not have been able to hit your pain medicine button". WTF? I was out, of course I didn't hit the button!!!! Argh! I have a terrible time coming out of Anesestia, so the vicious sleep/pain cycle continued into the next day, when I could finally stay with it. They would not discharge me until 7pm the next night because I couldn't pee! Another WTF? I spend the better part of a normal day peeing. But again.....oh well. The Hospital was 2 hours from my house, but I desperately missed Abby~so home we went.

I will not lie, the pain from the surgery hurt much more than I ever expected. I don't remember my c section being that painful.

One week later, I am feeling much better. I have moved on from clear liquids...(If I never see G2 or Propel again, it will be too soon!! ) to full liquids and have much more energy.

I have my follow up next Friday and am anxious to have my weight lifting restrictions lifted I am losing my mind not being able to lift Abigail!

Oh! And I have lost 11 pounds according to Wii Fit

Thanks to everyone who has given me advice over the last few months and congrats to all on their weight loss

Amanda

Yippeee..you got your surgery.

so sorry about your pain. It just amazes me, that it was worse than your c-sec....what a horrible hospital staff..i guess i should count myself lucky.

best of luck along your journey.
