Unhappy My LONG Journey!

My name is Krystal Sharp. I'm new to SC. I live in South Carolina. I'm a Med Tech at an assisted Living Facility. I love working there! I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 12 (yes..I said 12). I am currently 21, and have been married to my wonderful husband since July of 2007. We have been TTC since then. When I was diagnosed with PCOS, my doctor didn't tell me a lot about it. So, he sent me to my OB-GYN, where he told me that my case was really bad. He told me that I probably had it longer, but they aren't really sure. My periods (when I get them) are horrible. When I say horrible, I mean HORRIBLE! They are so painful (the high doseage of birth control isn't helping)! I get blood clots the size of golf balls or bigger. So, when I do get a period, I dread what is about to occur. The reason for this, is because of the many cysts in my ovaries and on the outside of my ovaries. My OB-GYN says they could remove them, but in 3 months they will grow back again. I'm like..whats the use right? Mothers day is really hard on me. ALL my friends have children of their own and they know nothing what its like to want a child, and try so hard, and not get it. I have had a really hard time dealing with this, especailly this month. I had no period last month, nothing new, so I didn't really worry about that. I got my brave, and took a pregnacy test. The first one was a BFN. My husband suggested for me to take another one the next morning. So, I did. This one turned out postitive, but barely visable. So, I went to the clinic the next day. They did a test, it was a BFN too. So, I was all depressed because not only was my test a BFN, the woman at the clinic was really rude to me. She was telling me what to do, like lose weight, take vitamins(which I do), and think about this longer and harder with my "partner" (since I am only 21). I told her I was taking vitamins, my HUSBAND is wanting a baby as much as I do, and we ARE ready to have a baby and have been for almost 2 years. She made me so mad. Its really hard when people don't understand what PCOS is. Then you have to explain it to them. Oh yeah, I forgot to mentition that my OB-GYN said if I don't get pregnant by the time I'm about 25, I could have to have a hysterectomy due to my PCOS getting worse and all the cysts on my ovaries (the outside mainly--by then I will have more cyst, but I'm really praying I don't get anymore). I'm just looking for some words of encouragement. I am new to SC and I really don't know how to do a lot on the site, so that would be helpful too. If anyone has ANY links that would benifit me in anyway, please send them to me! Thanks so much for your time! I have found so much support from this site, I just need a little more! : ) No One can get enought support..right? Thanks again for your time and support!

hi krystal...

my name is sara. i am also new to this site but not to pcos.i was also dx(exactly dont know the ab now) with pcos in 1998.since then i am having problem associated with it.i got married in 2006 and from then ttc.
about the ovaries cyst lets hope and pray that they will not increase but i had a personal experience regarding menstruation. taking OCP has a lots of side effetcs.better u take that i also use to take to regulate my periods is black seed along with honey on empty stomach in the morning along with metformin.

believe me my gyn prescribed me with ocp but i was fed up of them so i started taking this and when i again went for a check up after 3 months she was surprized to say ur ovaris have returened back to their original size(ovaries r enlarged during PCO)

i cant say wether it will benifit u for cysts or not but it will help u in regulating ur hormones.a lot of good luck n BABIES DUST to u..........

Hi Krystal, I live in South Carolina, too! (western side)

Your story is so heart breaking! You are so young, no one deserves to have to go through that. I'm glad you have a wonderful and supportive husband, though- he will be your rock through all of this! I can't believe how the medical "professionals" treat you. PCOS is so misunderstood and looked over.

I hope you can find a way to work on your emotional and physical health, and find a doctor who CARES. We're here for you, too! Best of luck to you, sweetie AND welcome to SoulCysters!

I am so sorry for your experience, there is nothing worse than when they sit here and tell you you need to loose weight, I had a doctor tell me one time during a physical for work that I was the size of a football player, ouch!
