Default my meds aren't working

I was on fluoxetine 20 mg for awhile and I felt so great! I was having side effects and went off and now I'm on Celexa 20 mg.

I don't feel any better and it's been over 6 weeks of being on celexa. I thought if prozac worked for you that celexa was also supposed to work? I'm confused why it's not doing anything.

If I need to switch to another drug, what are some other weight neutral medications?

arcane, i'm sorry that you are still feeling bad. with antidepressants, it is often a trial and error process. there are many different medications out there and they all affect people differently. prozac and celexa are both in the same drug class (ssri's); you might want to consider switching to a medication from a different class of drug since they work a bit differently. if you're not seeing an effect after 6 weeks, then you should either have your dose increased or switch to a different medication.

I too had issues with Celexa. It did nothing for me. Prozac worked for several years and then nothing. Right now I am on Lexapro and it is doing nothing. I am headed back to the doctor. I think I have tried all of them!!!

i'm on lexapro. it didn't really work for me, until I was put on the maximum - and even then its taken at least a month for me to feel the effect. It can take a bit of time to work.
Also i think the effect of antidepressants can alter depending on what time of the day/night you take them?
My GP recommended lexapro be taken first thing in the morning...yikes which reminds me..!
ARCANE, I'm so sorry you are going through this. Depression is a horrible horrible disease. You must keep trying to get better. You are worth it. Are you also doing counselling/therapy?
