Question My metformin has stopped working !!

Dear All,
I had an eptopic pregancy last October and unfortunately lost one of my tubes, I decided to take a break from TTC until May. I went back onto my metformin 2000mg daily and it didn't even occur to me that it wouldn't work. I went to the doctors the first month to get a blood test to find out if I'd O'ed - No, oh well takes time to get into my system (i thought) anyway 4 months later it still wasn't working.
Feeling very depressed and low at this point I stopped taking it.
I've now gone back onto Metformin within the last week, only taking 1000mg a day at the moment and then will increase gradually. I just hope it works this time round.
Has anyone else had a similar experience, Metformin before my eptopic was my wonder drug, I'm not very fertile but while I was Ovulating there was always that small hope but if my mets are no longer working I have no hope left.
Is there anything else I can do to help my mets starting working again.
I've seen my doctor about this and to be honest she doesn't really want to know anymore - I found her very unhelpful!!
Any feedback/suggestions/comments would be great.
Thanks ladies
Pippi

Pippi, Sorry about your pregnancy loss. I was on met yrs ago, and I think it helped. Sure I lost weight but I didn't get my period, so I got fustarted and quit. I recently started back up in June, and I am again losing weight and I also got my 1st AF about 3 weeks ago and I was without one naturally for 16 yrs. I have never heard of it NOT working. I believe it takes time and everyone is different. It also depends on what side you O from. If you O from the ovary that you lost your tube, would you STILL get a period? <- - No clue if you would r not! I guess what I am trying to say is DON'T GIVE UP. I gave up once and I reget it.It might just take longer this time for everything to kick in.

Smile Thank you

Hi maillady,
Thank you for your reply.
Its a waiting game and we are all the same - so desperate for that little baby that we don't want to wait.
I need to keep on the mets and I will this time round, interesting that you say about weight loss because metformin has never helped me to lose weight just goes to show how everyone is different.
Keep in touch
Pippi x
