Default My mother is dying

Some of you know I flew home to be with my mother while she was in the hospital with Pancreatitis.

To make a long story short, it turns out she has pancreatic cancer instead. Now my week long trip to home has turned into 3-6 months of full time caregiving.

My husband has to stay in Georgia to work and run our house. Idaho truely feels like the other side of the world.

So....babymaking is officially on hold. I'm already exhausted by this process and mom has only been home for 3 days. Daddy died of cancer 8 years ago, and I just don't know how my mother did it. I would like to ask her for advice, but the irony of the situation is, I can't. She's the one dying - on morphine, in pain, and confused.

I'm feeling so lost right now.

(((HUGS))) I'm very sorry that you and your mom are going through this! My dad had the same thing a few years ago...it spread from his pancreas to his stomach....it was caught in time and cut out. He is still in bad health and still lives in pain from the surgery....I just thank God he's here. Hopefully the cancer won't come back. We were not close growing up...he is an alcoholic and he and my mom got divorced when I was only 4....he went his own way and I didn't see him very much growing up. Sis and I just went on vacation over the fourth of July holiday to KY where he lives...I feel like we've been given a saecond chance to salvage our relationship and we've been making the best of it.

If this is truly the end, all I can say is make the most of your time together....

You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Don't give up hope. God does perform miracles.

I'm sorry to see a fellow "cyster" go through this. I ended up quitting my job and missing out on about 6 months of my DD's life because I was taking care of my ailing mother. My father was killed, and he was the caretaker of my mother so when He died my sister and I basically took turns staying with my mother 24hours a day. It can be very draining even though you will want to be there for her all the time. If someone offers you help, or just wants to let you go take a nap or go off on your own for a little while DO take them up on it. Please take care of yourself during this time also. I'll be praying for you and your family.

Default Sorry about what happened

Dberg,

I lost my mother to cancer only two years after she was diagnosed. I can't imagine the pain your feeling with the possibility of losing both parents. You, your mom, and family are in my prayers. Even though it didn't happen for me, I know God can still does miracles. You being there for her now is very important to you and to her, but don't forget to ask for help when you need it. It can be very trying at times. Try to talk to someone. You don't have to go it alone. When my mother died, it was extremely painful for me, and I think that being able to talk to her and be close at that time was very important. It would be even if she didn't pass away. When she did pass away, it was with grace and peace, even though my dad basically told her a few days before then that he didn't care how she felt and he was in love with another woman. I was there to hear him say it. If you want to talk just pm me or reply to this thread. Please don't e-mail me about this. I don't want my family to know my well kept secret. Please. We're here for you. (((hugs)))
