MY SEX DRIVE IS BACK!!!!

I took a month off of my Yasmin (mainly bc I'm too lazy to order more), and after a year of not wanting to be touched, I'm once again a very horny lady!!!! THANK GOD!!!! I thought I had become a sexaphobe or something. My husband did, too. Now I just can't get enough.

This has made me really sad about going back on the pills, but I really guess I have to. I would just about faint if I ended up pregnant again, but man, I will miss all this good sex.

I wish there was something else I could do.

Has anyone heard of any type of BCP that doesn't completely squash your libido??? I'd love to give them a try!!!

Yay for you and your hubby (who's probably a very happy man).

Is there a reason you prefer bcps over barrier methods (diaphragm maybe?) or IUDs? I'm just wondering, because those shouldn't affect your libido.

Otherwise, it's probably a trial and error thing. Everyone seems to react differently to these kind of things.

It may be that your testosterone levels are lower on the bcps (pretty likely actually). That can have a major effect on sex drive.

I posted a message below about lack of libido on BCP and no one responded. I guess either this isn't that common a problem or everyone accepts it as inevtiable???

I have an appointment in one month so I am going to ask my doctor about it. Hey, if I have gone from a high sex drive to nothing, that just isn't going to work for me,

I'm currently taking desogen which is supposed to be good for PCOS and I have experienced no sexual problems.

I was on Yasmin for about a year and I had no sexual desire. My vagina was sooooo dry. I quit taking it about 2 months ago and I have been a horn dog.!! It feels so good to be myself again!!
My husband is like, this is the girl that I remember. The weird thing is that my acne was actually worse when I was on the pill. My face is clear now, weird huh?? I have also had 2 periods on my own 29- 31 days apart. My OB is really pushing for me to be on the pill. He was kind of cranky at my last appointment because I told him that I quit taking the pill. He said that if my cycles get mixed up again that he "was going to twist my arm a little harder". I was thinking, yeah and you can kiss my butt!!

mine was gone for the first few months on ortho tri but it seems to be back now. i am single now though lol

i think the right pill varies for each woman.

I also had the problem of nonexistent libido when I was on the pill and we hadn't had sex for 4 months so I figured that I might as well go off them since we weren't having sex anyway. My libido came back full force and I got pg right away with my third baby LOL! I hated being on the pill- it always gave me problems with sex drive and dryness etc. After my third baby I had my tubes tied so now when my libido is low I can't blame it on the pill- just these whacky PCOS hormones I guess

This is definitely a problem for me. It has something to do with the "anti-androgen" drugs that are in Yasmin and Diane to assist with the PCOS problems of excess body hair and acne. So last July my doctor took me off Diane and put me on some run of the mill pill and he said we'd wait and see how we went on the skin thing. So after two months I was stoked because the libido had returned to a certain extent and my skin was really good. In the third month, my skin went to ****. I'm talking the WORST acne I have had in my lifetime - worse than highschool. Here I am a PR/Media manager walking around with acne cysts so big that if I smiled enough the sores would crack open and ooze. Not pretty.

So back I went and he put me on a low dose of aldactone - which is an androgen inhibitor. So he said give it a whirl at the lowest dose and if that doesn't improve your skin, slowly up the amount. So the 25mg a day did nothing, 50mg did nothing 75mg did nothing. When I went back earlier this month he said to go on 100mg's a day of aldactone - I think this is starting to help a bit, but it will take about 3 months to tell for sure. In the meantime - no libido. Zip, zero, zilch - sex, what is that?

Whoever can find a way to ease this problem for PCOS people will make a million dollars because I would buy anything that would enable me not to have horrific acne but still have a sex life.

Strangely enough I had this problem when I tried MET. that and the horrible nauseau you usually get with pregnancy. Then I also had it with Vitex. I am trying Saw palmetto now and so far, no probs, but then I don't have the (ooh touching wood here) acne problems just greasy hair and skin and shedding hair on head and the usual wollopping weight gains!
