Jojo- First of all, what you are doing is a WONDERFUL thing. It's very selfless and giving and kind of you to do this. My twin sister died two years ago, and I would have given her my eggs in a heartbeat I'm sure she would have done the same, and it makes me so joyful to read about this gift you are giving your sis. I do not understand why your sister is rushing you and being attitudy, is it perhaps because she is just anxious? Is she one of those people that gets rude when under duress? Not that it's an excuse, but I know that some people are like that.

Are you taking the hormone injections right now? It sounds like you're not, so DO NOT WORRY about anything, health-wise, yet. They are just starting by checking your LH, but believe me, they will be monitoring you more closely after you start taking the meds. With the PCOS, there's really not a lot that can be done before you start taking the injections. The thing they'll need to monitor are your ovaries once you DO start taking the injections, and I assume they'll put you on birth control pills before that (to get rid of your symptoms and shrink your cysts). Believe me, once you start the process they will be keeping a close eye on your PHYSICAL health, they take that quite seriously with donors, but at this point, there's not much pre-medical stuff they can do for egg donors. The thing I'm more worried about is your MENTAL health, if you are feeling upset with your sis, I agree with the other girls: sit down and have a chat with her and tell her how you are feeling and remind her of the physical concerns you have b/c of the PCOS.

Hang in there, and GOOD FOR YOU! You're a sweetheart, and I, for the record, in NO way, shape or form think that your sister is "taking a baby" from you, you're giving her an egg! You're a good sister.

oh no,
I have no problem with giving her some of my eggs. not my babies...lol. anyway, I'm not worried about it. Yes yes!!! My sis IS very rude when stressed out!!! We deal with it... but my anxiety got the better of me. Anyway, we're delayed until the psych doc says I'm ready and I feel really ready now. I was pms'ing pretty bad that week too!! Not worried now, I really want this baby for our family you know?? I can't afford any more kids and I love babies, and both of my other nieces were born when I was a child, I've never had a niece/nephew born as an adult so it is an exciting prospect for me and my parents etc... thanks all I'll keep you updated!!!!!!!!!!! oh and as for sick leave, well, I have short term paid at work if I go off sick, so I wouldn't be using hrdc for that. We'll see what happens, I'll probably just take a week when I have the actual retrieval done. I can't see being approved for the injections - unless I really am hard to deal with lol. My sis said she would pay me for any time off, but I'm not going to take a bunch off and make her pay me... I'll deal.

I have been in your sisters shoes. As a woman who went through 8 1/2 years of infertility, I was at the point of asking my sister for her eggs or if she would be a surrogate for me. My sister does not have PCOS and was able to concieve without a problem. She said she could never give away her baby.

So before starting my last IVF cycle, hubby and I decided to move on to adoption if no success. We were so blessed with our beautiful miracle. When you go through IVF, the RE will find the "good eggs". Meaning if a lot of your follicles contain cysts, they will be able to determine that. As far as your health, physically you should be fine. Egg retrieval for IVF is common for PCOS women. 4 out of 5 people I would sit in the RE's office waiting room with had PCOS. As far as not having anethesia for the retrieval, I had anethesia with both my IVF's. I do know of some woman who did not have it with theirs. (You can probably go to the IVF mommies or pregnancy boards and ask around.) As far as your mental health you and your sister need to make sure you both have that in check before any decisions are made. Maybe go to a therapist together before you decide. I would not let her pressure you. This is a decision for you and you hubby/partner to make together as well.

Good luck with your decison and it is so beautiful that you are willing to consider donating your eggs for your future sisters chance at motherhood.

Yes, GOOD LUCK, and again, good for you! I have IVF and the ER wasn't too bad, and they got a lot of eggs from me. I"m so proud of you for doing this for your sister and it does sound like it would be a blessing for you to have a baby in the family too and to be an Aunt as a grown-up!
