my stomach hurts.....

I can't explain this pain I have in my stomach maybe someone can help. I've been taking 3 half tablets of Metformin a day (750 mg only) for 2 weeks now and haven't had any side affects so I don't know if my pain is a side affect or something else. Last night, an hour after dinner, I started to feel really nauseous. DH ate the same thing and he's fine so it wasn't the food. I woke up still nauseous this morning. I started to feel a bit better after my morning oatmeal bar (I didn't take a half tablet) but then after lunch I took a half tablet and my unsettled/nauseous stomach came back. Now I have these sharp pains that come and go to the left and right of my belly button....any thoughts besides paranoia?

That is pretty much how my side effects started. It was horrable. Although my side effects started three days after I started the metformin and lasted about a week. I am a little confused. My metformin says not to break or crush. Are your pills extended release? I also started takeing my pills at bed time, seemed to really help with the nausia and stomach pains. I would recommend that you talk to you Dr. about takeing 500mg at bed time until you get use to it and then gradually increase your dose.
