I recently was researching PCOS because I felt like I had it. I have a lot of the symtoms (weight gain around middle, no period for about 2 years now, increased facial hair, gained 75 pounds in 5 years, etc. etc.). I went to my doctor and asked her to run some tests. My hormone levels are way off and my doctor told me that is is most likely PCOS. In addition, I have a hypothyroid. I am still going through a bunch of tests. I have an ultrasound booked and I need to get more blood work done to monitor my thyriod.
My doctor changed my bcp from Alesse to Mycronor (sp?), which is a progesterone only pill. I have been on this new bcp for 2 months and I still haven't had a period.
I am having a terrible time losing weight. I joined Curves in August 2005. I have lost inches but no pounds. I am very frustrated. I eat a heathy diet and exercise at Curves, play sports and use the treadmill at home. Nothing is working. I feel like I am just getting bigger and bigger and no matter what I do, I can't take this weight off. I am at my highest weight ever (250lbs). Needless to say, my self-esteem is going down, my depression feels worse (I am on prozac) and my body image is poor. I hate shopping for clothes because I can't fit into nice cute things.
I am wondering if any of you can give me any suggestions for weight loss? I drink probably 2 litres of water a day, eat the good carbs, veggies, protein, everything you are "suppose" to do. Nothing is working. I am also wondering about what my next steps should be with my doctor? Should I be asking for prescription weight loss pills or another type of pill? I am not really sure what will help me. What about tyroid medications? Any advice will be appreciated.
I've been lurking around this site for a long time and find it to be very informative.....I thank you all in advance for your thought and suggestions.
