My Story Hello,
I am fairly new to this community, and just wanted to share my story with everyone.
I am 20 years old and I was diagnosed with PCOS in September. I have been overweight my entire life, and not just overweight, we are talking obese. When i went to my doctor I was prescribed Metformin 500mg. At the time I was 274 pounds. I had already started to eat healthier and tried exercising regularly (3 times a week or so).
Along with obesity, i also had a problem with excess hair, pretty much everywhere. I went back to talk to my doctor in December to see what we could do about this. She then prescribed me 100mg of Spironolactone.
I have now been on both of these meds for about 3 months now, and as for excess hair, I haven't noticed much of a difference, but for my weight, i have lost about 50 pounds in a little less than 7 months.
I haven't changed my eating habbits much, only I eat less and try to be healthier. I really attribute almost all of my success to these meds. I would encourage any of you out there to really talk to your doctors about these medications.
I know 225 is still obese, but I am still losing weight and hope to get down to 170 in the short term (hopefully by Christmas), and 135 long term. I wish everyone out there with PCOS and hopefully my story has helped/motivated/intrigued you!
