Red face My story

Hi, my name is Melanie and I'm 23 yrs old. I found out that I have PCOS last month. I haven't had regular periods since I was 16 yrs old when I was put on the Depo Shot. I stopped taking it when I was 18 yrs old and haven't been the same since. No one could find out what was wrong with me. This doctor siad one thing, this doctor said another. I've been married now for 2 yrs and we decided to try for a baby last year. My gyn told me to wait for one year to see if I can try on my own, nothing happened. I went to see a fertillist and they ran some test and told me that I have PCOS and I can get through this and have a happy, healthy baby. He reasured me and that ment alot. When the did a sonogram they found that I have what is known as kissing ovaries. That tore me up just as bad as the news of PCOS. This lessens my chances of pregnancy. Its so hard cause all my friends my age are getting married and having babies. My husband has been very understanding though it all. I couldn't ask for anyone better. So currently I've taken the first round of Clomid and Metformin and my body resisted the dose of Clomid. So now I'm on provera to onset a period and then an increase dose of Clomid. The metformin is a continuous. The metformin makes my stomache so upset, i'm running to the bathroom seems like every 5-10 minutes. How embarassing is that at work.? I guess its a waiting game from now on. I'm praying everyday.

Thanks for reading, its good to get to talk to others with the same problems. I really appreaciate it.

Thanks again,
Melanie

Hi Melanie,
Sorry to hear about the troubles you are having! (does not sound like much fun).
Have you heard of Gonadotrophin? (hope i spelt that right) Its generally used when your body shows resistance to Clomid, its daily injections i believe. (my mother was also resistant to Clomid and this worked for her).
I was diagnosed at 14 and since then it's all going down hill, had a lap and d&c this month and things dont look to good.

Hi Melanie,

My name is Tanya and I am turning 22 next week. I too have PCOS. I was diagnosed when I was 14. I never really addressed the issue when I was younger because I wanted to have children when I got older. It's so hard for me to see people having babies and I can't. I was in the process of starting fertility treatment but my husband wanted to move to be closer to our families. We have now moved but don't have medical benefits yet. So I can't even afford the fertility treatments. My husband is very patient and very understanding. I on the other hand think about it all time and seem to be depressed every day. I look forward to the days where I will be able to start treatment again. A little advice on the metformin. They also can make a liquid form of metformin which helps a lot of with the upset stomach and Fortamet which is the same as metformin but is the name brand also works a lot better but is a bit pricier and this I know because I have taken all three myself. I had also did one cycle of clomid an my body resisted to it as well. I'm just scared of all the costs that this will take for me to get closer to having a baby, which is now my goal and dream.

I wish you all the best. Keep in touch.
