Hi Ladies...I originally joined this site in Sept 2004 to get more info on PCOS but never posted anything in the forums until now...I know we all share similarities having PCOS but I am hoping to relate to someone here who has Hyperthyroid like me too...or possibly help someone out and share what I've learned since being diagnosed.
When my husband joined the Marines in 2002 and I moved with him to Camp Lejeune at that point we really wanted to have a baby. In 2002 we were together for 6 years already and still no baby. Even when we were teens and having unprotected sex, it wasn't a big deal if I got pregnant, At one point I didn't even care because I was young and dumb. LOL.
Anyway...I went to the docs there because I knew something wasn't right. When they did some tests on me they found out I had PCOS and I had no clue what that was. I don't even remember if they gave me anything for it other than birth control which was totally opposite b/c I wanted to get pregnant.
Then later I found out I had Hyperthyroid in which I'm still dealing with up to this day. I have been mistreated by my last endocrinologist who took me off Tapazole after a year and then wanted me to get the radioactive Iodine pill. I didn't feel right about it and never went through with it.
I was so confused that for awhile I kinda stopped caring, I know...horrible.
bad move. Just a few weeks ago, I found an awesome doc who understands me and explains everything to me in detail...I never knew what was going on with my body. He did so many tests on me and now I'm taking Glumetza for my insulin problem and also Tapazole to keep my thyroid from producing too much hormone.
He is actually glad I never did the radio active Iodine pill. That thing is so controversal and some doctors have no clue how to treat thyroid disorders.
He also stated to me that he thought I could get pregnant in a year or so and end up taking PTU instead of Tapazole. I can't believe I can do this. He is awesome After being married for nearly 7 years and being with my husband for 12 years...and still no baby...He gave me hope and that's something I sorta lost.
I wanted to share all this with you in hopes that I can help someone who has a similar issue in addition to PCOS.
Thank you all for your inspiration |
